Bridesmaids and Groomsmen Switched

Krista, on October 19, 2011 at 10:44 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

A discussion i just read brought this question to my mind. I have been a Bridesmaid three times and always hated the fact that since I stand behind the behind the bride i never get to see her face during the ceremony. The Bride is the friend of the Bridesmaids and the groom with the groomsmen yet we get to watch the groom and the groomsmen the Bride. Now i am the Bride and i would like my girls to be able to see me. Would it be odd to have the Bridesmaids behind the groom and groomsmen behind the Bride?

Oh, I never even thought about it that way, my FH would not like the idea, as long as your FH agrees, go with it.

I suggest this all the time, in addition to switching up the family sides so the brides' guests are behind the groom and the groom's guests behind the bride. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

I always thought of the bridesmaids and groomsmen standing up for the bride or groom... Like as a "I'm on your side" type of thing.

Mine were behind me in case I locked my knees and passed out...I figured my sister/MOH is observant enough to catch me, whereas I wasn't so sure about the BIL/best man.

I'm going to need my BFF beside me to hand me tissues, to hand her my flowers, to fix my gown, and if our daughter gets wandering, to reel her back in. I don't want her on his side. She's got WORK to do.

I never thought of this idea either but I'm with Tara ... my MOH is definitely going to have to hold my bouquet at some points and probably hand me some tissues LOL and I wouldn't mind if she fixed the train on my dress when we have to move. We're doing a traditional Catholic wedding also so I'm not sure how that would work out if they switched. I do see a valid reason though.
