Bridesmaids do their own make up?

Ashlyn, on October 17, 2018 at 3:16 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Hi all! I just wanted to get your opinion on my bridesmaids doing their own make up? My grandmother does hair for a living so she will be doing our hair. I just couldn’t stretch enough in my budget to get a professional to come out and do their make up... My sister wants me to get my make up done, I could careless lol but she told me she would pay to get it done bc it’s such a big day. BUT I feel bad if I get mine done and the bridesmaids don’t... any advice? Thank you!

You don’t have to pay for them to get their makeup done! You can get someone for your own makeup and offer it to the bridesmaids if they want to pay for the service they can.

If you just want to pay for yours, you could extend the service to the BM if they want to pay! It's pretty common. It's nice they won't have to pay for their hair!

I didn't pay for makeup or hair (budget), but gave my girls the option of having it done professionally. I also found someone very cheap to do both, so they paid $30 for makeup and $40 for blow-outs.

Like PPs said, you can ask the BMs if they want their makeup done and tell them the price. If you are having someone come to where you’re getting ready I would check to see how many attendants they can do in addition to you. You don’t have to pay for theirs but if the want it done you could arrange it as an add-on to yours (at their expense). It’s not outrageous to pay for your own makeup if the bride doesn’t specify it needs to be done professionally.

I'm getting mine done so I offered the service to my bridesmaids. My MOH said she will only if the others are as well to keep things uniform. They declined so my mother and I will be the only ones getting our makeup done. I felt bad at first but they chose what was best for them knowing the options. They don't wear much makeup and my MOH does her own well. So, we are all good. 😊

I'm hiring a professional MUA to do my make up. I'll be doing a trial with her next month and depending on how it goes / prices I think I'll include that in part of their gift for my ladies if they want to get it done.

I think it is great to offer if you certainly get yours done! I am savvy in makeup so I have always done my own (but I think I want mine done for my wedding since it's a special day) and I have done for two of my bride friends already. I think if the girls are good at makeup and capable of doing their own they should go for it! But sometimes ladies like to be pampered too, and a wedding is a great excuse. I know part of my bridesmaids like pampering and would want to pay to get theirs done.

I am from Puerto Rico and in our tradition we do not pay for anything for the bridesmaids. That's why we do the bridesmaids proposal, if they choose to be in it they are willing to pay what comes with it. Of course I helped them decide and we went for something that all of them could afford but I feel like if you and your partner are in low budget you shouldn't have to pay for all of them.
