Bridesmaids Dresses - Matching or Mixing It Up?

My bridesmaids are in the same color, but two different styles. I have two thinner girls and three thicker girls. The dresses are basically the same, but are pleated differently around the waist to allow everyone to feel comfortable and beautiful in their dress!

A little bit of Mix and Match. The dresses are all the same color, length, and fabrics, but the styles are different.

Mixing it up! They will all have varying shades of sage/teal green dresses but can choose their own color, style, fabric, etc. As long as it goes with the general color palette, I'm not picky!

They all are wearing the same dress. My MOH is wearing the same dress but a different color.

That is a tough question. Just to be different, I would probably mix it up.

I have my girls in different dresses, but the same color. My girls all have such different body types that it's hard to find a dress that fits them all... so I told them to get something they like that's comfortable and we'll get it in the right color. They're the ones that have to wear it all day!!

I don't have bridesmaids, so not an issue.

My best friend's daughter is getting married in 3 weeks and she told all the bridesmaids (5 in total) to select a black dress in the style and length they are most comfortable in. I thought that was a really nice idea.

I have given my bridesmaid some freedom on this part. As long as they decide soon (my wedding's 4.5 months away!) they can choose to wear the same style or different styles, as long as it's the same material, and they will all be in different colors.

Mixing it up - we just we BM dress shopping yesterday! Initially I wanted all one color, but some of the girls fell in love with dresses than only came in specific colors, so instead of changing the color I wanted, I went with 3 colors - wine/burgendy, pale pink/quartz and a vintage mauve.

MOH will wear lavender and BMs will wear eggplant. They will get to choose which style of dress to wear - I just gave them length, fabric and color.

Same color, fabric, and length (peach, chiffon, floor-length) for the bridesmaids, but they're free to choose their own style within that.

My bridesmaids will have the same colors and lengths, but different styles! I feel different styles look better on certain body types so letting them decide helps them choose what they feel looks best on them. Plus, I'm not paying for the dresses or wearing it so why have them in the same color and same dress... seems very strict!

I am so on the fence about this one! When it comes to me personally, I was all about matching! I like the symmetry. But I do have to say, I love how different shades or styles look in a bridal party. I think it just depends on the theme and feel of your wedding. Here's one of my favorite pictures of my bridal party. I did a first look with my girls after I put my dress on. This is as they were just seeing me in the dress for the first time... I love how they're all so excited! As you can see, they all have the same dress, but there are 2 different tops to it. It's a sweetheart neckline with a sheer overlay either one shoulder or sleeveless style. Some of my girls have larger busts and the one strap wouldn't work for them all.
