Bridesmaids dresses

Did anyone let their bridesmaids choose whatever dress they wanted as long as it’s the right color? I did I don’t see the big deal about all the dresses matching!

Our wedding is super simple and rustic (barn wedding) so it doesn’t matter as much to us or the bridal party! And they’re paying for their own as well!

I had a basic aesthetic that I wanted. All of my lines for decorating and in my dress are super clean and straight (v-neck with princess seams and no rouging or lace) so I wanted the same for my ladies. I also wanted long because we are going for formal elegance and it will likely be on the chilly side (all of my girls tend to get cold easily).

I told them I don't care so much about the back but i wanted them to have v-neck, princess seam long a-line gowns. My MOH picked a halter for $199 at David's Bridal (left) and I gave my confirmed bridesmaid the choice of that or a tank version with the same criteria in the front for $99 (right). She chose the cheaper option so that is also the dress for my 3rd, whom shall be confirmed in a week or so. We are putting a custom tartan ribbon sash around all of them so the sash on my the first dress will be removed and that will also tie them together.

I let my two girl choose their own dress, but the funny thing is they choose the same dress!!! As far as my jr. bridesmaid I didn’t let her choose hers because she’s 11 and the dress she wanted was too reviling!! So her mother and I came up with a dress to agree on!!! I attached a picture of her in the dress along with my girls dress.

I personally like different dresses with same color but I refuse to have my girls buy an overpriced bridesmaid dresses that they’ll never use again. I don’t particularly like different colors and fabrics and this was a high possibility when I told them all to buy their own dress and gave them my color option so I crossed my fingers and waited. Luckily my girls are amazing and they were very cautious when shopping around. We met up to see the colors in the different dresses and it worked out soooo perfect! Better than I actually expected.

I have an appointment next month to try some wedding dresses on. I have 3 of my bridesmaids coming with so they can try on a different variety of dresses and colors and let them decide which ones they like. I don't like telling people what to wear...other than cowboy boots for the ceremony.

I did! I told them sage, long, and preferably float but they all chose their own dresses and loved them! They were all really comfortable and said they loved being able to express their own style!

We are letting the entire wedding party choose what they wear (bridesmaids & groomsmen)! We are just having them wear all black. We’re asking them to stand in front of others- It’s very important to me for everyone to feel comfortable and confident Smiley smile

I did. I told them the color, the length, & place to purchase from. Everything else was up to them. It worked out great. They all picked beautiful dresses that they feel great in, that were at a price point they felt comfortable with.

My girls get to pick whatever they want. As long as it's in one of the colors in my color palette (which gives them like 6 options). I don't care if it's a $3 sundress from a thrift store or a $200 dress from a bridal store. Whatever makes them comfortable and happy and feel beautiful. As long as they are with me on the big day I wouldn't care if they were in their PJs to be honest. I just need them there.

When I’m at work, I can’t stand if the stripes on the blankets in my babies’ cribs don’t go the same way. I think I’d twitch if my girls all had different dresses. Lol. I guess I’m a b!$&@ bride.

Yes - I showed them what I liked and told them to all discuss and find one they all agree on

I was originally going to do this until a found a bridesmaids dress on Azazie I fell in love with. Instead of everyone wearing the same color, they're each wearing a different jewel tone (dark green, peacock, dark navy, grape, orchid)

That's what I'm doing. My bridesmaids all have very different body types, so I don't want to force them all to wear the same dress--I know that won't look good. I don't like how uniform that is anyway. I've given them a color and length (and suggested that they go through Azazie.com). Anything beyond that is up to them.

I chose the color I wanted and checked on my maids' budget. From there, I went to a store, told them my color and budget and found a line that met those two requirements and was more of the style I liked for my wedding. After that, I told them to chose any dress from that line. That way they could find something they liked, was flattering, and comfortable but there was still some uniformity since they all have the same fabric and skirt shape.
