Bridesmaids & flowers?!?!

on March 29, 2021 at 9:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
We had to cancel our wedding last year but we still got married and had a small private ceremony. We are now having the reception and I’ll be getting ready with my bridesmaids (dresses (I never got to wear my dress), hair, makeup, photographer) since we never got to do that... But I’m having trouble if the bridesmaids need bouquets????? It’ll only be for all the photos and then we’re heading to the reception. I need input please!!

If it were me, I wouldn't spend the money on real flowers just for photos. If you really want them for the photos, you could always DIY them buy going to Hobby Lobby, Michael's or any local craft store and getting faux flowers! I've seen a lot of brides doing this and they look amazing in photos!

Not sure if flower crowns are your thing, but you could also give them dainty flower crowns to wear! you'll have that flower element, but they'd be able to wear it the whole time at the reception, so you'd get your money's worth. This can also be done with real OR faux flowers!

Agree with Shelly! With it just being the reception, I personally wouldn't spend the extra money on bridesmaids bouquets unless you just wanted to!

Flower crowns would be super cute! Or even some kind of corsages (although you have to be super careful with these so it doesn't look "prom-ish". I think you could be creative if you didn't want to splurge on fresh bouquets!

You do not need flowers even when you do walk down the aisle. Witha religious ceremony, many carrey missals and bibles and such. To avoid awkward hand and for shy people, something to look at, a tussy mussy, or a box or bag of prescious things, which may be treasures of loved ones, are common. Since flowers availability in northern and cold climatesyear round is fairly new, many families still have items their grandmas and others carried pre 1960. I carried an heirloom, beaded sealskin bag big enough for a mother of pearl framed pic of one grandmother, that grampa carried to sea during tge war years, a scrimshaw (?lighy carved wedding proposal from a sailor great grandfather, with a sketch of him. One time he did not survive. My good luck piece, a all carved otter, and carved by my Dad, a dancing polar bear for Joy.
I doubt anyone cared but me, but it was very important to me since I was little, and I inherited it, and a large piece of lavender jade, later carved into my dancing polar bear.

So my florist delivered our bouquets super late, so they’re in none of my bridesmaids pics! The pictures look fine without anything in our hands—though in a few we had champagne!

That’s to say—definitely don’t worry about the pics! They’ll turn out great and no bouquets are necessary!
