Bridesmaids in navy. What should groom and groomsmen wear?

Emily, on March 19, 2022 at 3:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 9

Our wedding colors are navy with a splash of coral. My bridesmaids will be wearing navy floor length gowns. We're having issues deciding what the grooms and groomsmen will wear, because we don't want the entire wedding party to be too dark, but we're worried that light grey suits would be too casual. We're having our ceremony in a church and the reception at a mansion. Any suggestions?

I am having this same issue! What is the groom wearing? I think even coral jackets with a navy bow tie might look good. However, I think the grey suits with a coral bow tie would also look good because those colors are lighter.

He's not sure either. He's trying to figure out if he's going to wear matching colors with the groomsmen or to have a completely separate color tux/suit than them.

Have you looked into dark grey? Or maybe do a lighter blue jacket with dark pants!

What about whatever they wear he wear the opposite. But, if he wears navy he’ll be matching the bridesmaids. Have they already bought dresses? Maybe they can wear coral dresses instead? And FH can wear navy with coral bow tie and groomsmen wear light or dark grey suit with either navy or coral bow tie?

Unfortunately they already ordered the dresses...didn't think of the colors being an issue until he started to look at suit/tux options.

Oh gotcha! I’d say look at the options and see which one he likes the best that’ll help to determine what the groomsmen can wear. I’d jus been googling certain tux vest with bow ties to see what we like versus what we don’t like.

I don't think you have to introduce another color. Since you're venue is a formal mansion, I think wedding party tuxes are classic. The contrast of the white shirt on black jacket/tie keeps the overall look from being too dark. Midnight blue is as formal as black. Perhaps the groomsmen can wear blue while your groom opts for a black or white dinner jacket for August. Skip the vests if single button. Everyone can bring more color or whimsy in their florals and or bowties. Rest of guests are fine in formal attire and do not have to be in black tie.

My family photo had 3 women in black/navy, 6 men in black tuxes, bride & groom in Ivory (black tuxedo pants), 2 moms in champagne and it was fine. Here 2 friends sans heads.Bridesmaids in navy. What should groom and groomsmen wear? 1

I don’t think light gray is too casual! The plan for my fiancés suit is burgundy lol. I think light gray would look great with navy!

My cousin had navy bridesmaid dresses for her wedding. The groom and groomsmen wore medium dark grey with light blue striped ties! Also the bride had 4 brothers and they all wore dark navy. Bridal party and family portraits looked timeless and classic! I didn’t think the scheme was too dark at all. Their reception was in an upscale hotel and their gray suits definitely did not seem too casual.
