Bridesmaids... In suits?

Kelly, on May 15, 2019 at 1:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
I love the idea of bridesmaids in suits. I've never really been into dresses anyway and I've seen a few photos of this idea and just love it.
Did anyone else do it? How'd it go? Did they match the groomsmen? Accessories?

I personally have never seen this, but if you like it and your bridesmaids are cool with it then I say go for it. It's your day so do what you want, but I'm guessing some guests may think it is odd and might make comments about it. If you are happy though, then others opinions shouldn't matter unless you are the type of person that worries what others would think. I have included some photos for inspiration. Not sure what your colors are, but you could always have the girls and guys both in black suits and have the girls wear a dress shirt that matches the color of the guy's tie. As for accessories, they could still do necklaces and earrings like a bridesmaid would in a dress. For flowers they could do corsage, bouquets, or boutonnieres. It would totally depend on what you like.

I'd definitely ask your bridemaids if they are comfortable with wearing suits instead of dresses and then shopping around together to find something everyone loves, but I think it's an awesome modern take on the traditional style! I've seen a lot of brides even take off their wedding dresses and wear a romper or a pant suit at their reception to be more comfortable. Everyones comfort should come first, but I personally love the look, especially in a non-traditional venue!

Going to be honest I know all of the women own black pantsuits already, and I cannot stand the idea of making them buy something they'd only wear once. As much as I love my bff when I was her bridesmaid I appreciated the budget friendly dress but realistically I am never wearing it again, I don't want to make people buy things that'll get tossed or sit in a closet. Why not have a fun, unique, budget and environmentally friendly look? The wedding is only semi formal, it's during fall at the beach, they'll probably be glad they have a light jacket on!

Ah! That’s great. My concern with this was going to be cost (I don’t own a suit and don’t need to so it’d never get worn again) and purchasing suits I think is expensive and less option for women to rent— but if they all have them, problem solved!

also easy enough to find a fun pretty shirt for everyone to buy if you wanted to make it look a little festive. I’d be much happier buying a $20 button up than a $200 suit/dress

What a unique idea, I love it. I'm all about being different and stepping outside the box. It's your vision, your day and what you want goes.

Where can I find something similar to the black bridesmaid suits. Does anyone recomend any good websites or shops on long island?
