Bridesmaids’ Shoes

Alyssa, on December 22, 2021 at 5:56 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
Do shoes matter under long dresses? All my bridesmaids will be wearing long dresses with slits (this is one of them). I’ll be wearing Tiffany blue converse under my dress, but I’m wondering if anyone will even be able to tell what shoes my bridesmaids are wearing under their dresses? If they all need to match, I think it’d be cute for them to wear white converse! But, 2 of my 3 bridesmaids are pretty short, so I wouldn’t want them to feel awkward not wearing heels. And would slits look weird with more casual shoes??Bridesmaids’ Shoes 1

So, I think your best bet would be to just ask what they think!

My friend had very similar bridesmaids dresses, and with the slit, as soon as you're in movement or there's a breeze - you see the shoes. She just had us wear whatever silver shoes we wanted, and it toned in enough (plus no one is ever really looking at the bridesmaids at a wedding anyway), but it's definitely a pet peeve of mine, and so for my wedding I was prepared to buy the shoes to make sure they all matched, haha!

I think converse would be a particular 'look' - it might look odd with the more formal dresses and the more casual shoes, but it's obviously an intentional, conscious fashion decision vibe, which for me makes it a shoulder-shrug 'they obviously like it and good for them' decision rather than a 'wow, those shoes just look really bad with that dress' thing, if that makes sense?

I'm having my bridesmaids all get whatever shoes they like in nude (goes with their dresses nicely!) You could just pick a colour and let them wear whatever in that colour

Unless the dresses are short or the shoes are garish (bright and doesn’t coordinate or are thigh high heels for example) guests will not notice or pay attention. If they do see the shoes, they will be completely forgotten after a few seconds. So let them wear they are comfortable with. You don’t need to pick a certain color that someone may not have in their closet and will never wear again (as an example, not everyone owns nude shoes) and let them decide the height because some people aren’t comfortable in heels.

First of all that dress is lovely absolutely love the color. As for the shoes poll the bridesmaids and see what they think, can one of them try on your converse just to see what a sneaker look like with the dress. If you decide not to do the sneaks I think a silver or neutral shoe would love lovely. Congrats and happy planning!

A couple that recently got married at my church chose for the bridesmaids to wear match converse and it was super cute. The different heights of the girls didn't matter because the colors matched. They were the three sisters of the bride, and all four of them wore super cute purple converse that matched nicely with their gorgeous floor length lavender dresses. (And in the case of the bride added a nice pop under her cream flowy boho dress) It was a lovely look and as others have said clearly a conscious choice. I'd say if you like the idea go for it!
