Bridesmaids that don't want hair or makeup done?

I was planning to pay for all my bridesmaids and 2 grooms-women to have their hair and makeup done. I thought it would be a nice treat for everyone, and I thought it would make the photos nicer if everyone had it done professionally. They all knew I was planning to do this. I was planning to pay for all my bridesmaids and 2 grooms-women to have their hair and makeup done. I thought it would be a nice treat for everyone, and I thought it would make the photos nicer if everyone had it done professionally. They all knew I was planning to do this. This morning I texted everyone the start time just to give them a heads up and I got a text from my MOH, asking if she could do a trial because she doesn't like to wear makeup and all of her experiences in the past have left her looking "like a hoochie mama". I told her I am sure if she wanted to do a trial she could contact the MAU and set something up (pay for it herself of course) and sent her the website/contact info. Of course, this is also the bridesmaid that would rather pay $300 for a brand new dress for herself and $300 for her daughter that is also in the wedding than wear the ones I found on Poshmark for $150 that had been worn once before like my other bridesmaids all chose to do.

Then I got to thinking one of the groomswomen doesn't wear makeup at all. Is it wrong for me to want everyone to get their makeup and hair done as long as I pay for it, or should I just let it be optional if they want it? Ultimately it would save me money if they don't want it done.

I made it optional and left it up to them entirely to decide. It’s pretty pricey here in CA for it and if who ever opted in for it decided to do it I didn’t want to find someone out of their price range. All 4 opted in for it and they went on their own and found two girls for very reasonable prices through the nearby beauty school. My MOH (God bless her!!!) hired the MUHA to do a trial run for her daughters prom and that’s how they knew she was good. Let them decide! It takes SOOOO much off of you.

You really don't have a choice but to leave it optional. You can't force anyone to have their hair and makeup done even if you are paying for it and you if you push the issue, you risk them backing out last minute. Yes, I definitely understand your point as far as the pictures and you wanting them to look a certain way but you also don't want your girls to be in tears or looking mortified in the pictures. The way you handled your MOH request was perfect. I think your pictures will come out beautiful regardless!
