Bridezillas: Are these girls for real?

Amanda, on June 19, 2012 at 7:47 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 41

Has anyone else seen this show? I have a hard time believing that this isn't staged. Some of these girls are so outrageous. I don't even know how their FH's deal with them. FH has been calling me a bridezilla because I have a very clear idea of how I want to decorate at the reception; I am a perfectionist, I can't help it! He watched an episode with me the other night and said "Wow, honey, I am so glad you are not like that. I take back the Bridezilla comment." But seriously, are these women for real?

Hahaha, I watch the show to make myself feel better. Smiley smile FH watched last night with me too.

I think that some of it is probably enhanced for TV but I do think these women are like that IRL just cause they have personality traits still similar to what you see (spoiled, greedy, narcissistic etc). We finished up the last season on Netflix, and I think out of all the ones I've seen on this show, the last one they had was the only one I thought, "Wow, she didn't change AFTER the wedding. She's still exactly the same!"

I actually witnessed TWO bridezillas in DB when I was there. I asked one of them to "excuse me" so that I could get out of my "dressing room" and she told me to "F" off. I shoved the door open in her face and told her to find her own mirror. She was crying and screaming that we all needed to get out of her way because she was trying to find her effing wedding dress.....hmmm..what in the heck were all the girls in white dresses doing there?? She was told to leave after multiple attempts to quiet her down...her consultant was an angel. The other girl limited her meaness to her BM's but she was awful to them...they were too fat or "ugly" or they needed to dye their hair a different color....my MOH's looked at me and told me that they loved me and my attitude toward this whole wedding thing! BTW my FH and I watch the show together, I thank him for not being a pansy and he thanks me for not being bridezilla =)

@tiedaknot - Wow. I just don't get the Bridezilla mentality. I completely understand wanting to have a beautiful wedding day and wanting things to turn out the way you have planned and envisioned. I don't get the screaming, crying, cussing, whining, etc. in order to make those things happen. Grow up. Oh, and I hate brides that treat their bridal party like you know what. Those girls are supposed to be your friends! Quit treating them like crap, quit telling them they are too fat, quit demanding they be your little slaves. It drives me nuts!

@Soon To Be--exactly how I feel! I can't even tell my MOH they have to wear a "certain" dress..they get to pick it out it only has to be green or orange or have those as accent colors at least. I picked them because I truly love them and I refuse to make them feel uncomfortable in any way.

Thankfully, in only one case (out of about 700 brides) I've only had two women who even got remotely close to being lunatics. (Of course, being the officiant, I think many brides assume it's bad karma to go wild on your minister.....)

I also just watched the entire season on netflix, and I really couldn't believe it. What I think is really hysterical is that the husband starts the segment by describing how loving, compassionate and fun each bride is, and somehow they morph into the bride be-atch from hell!

<<>> LOL It's totally the truth and I'm glad you said it. I'll watch the show occasionally if I catch it on and my FH watches it with me sometimes as well. We both watch dumbfounded that the guys just don't get up and walk out. The latest episode we watched was the girl trying to put together a Clue type of game to be played at the reception and all she did was yell at the groom and all the groom did was....nothing. Nothing at all. My FH would be gone if i treated him like that and rightfully so. These girls are insane.

I think my 2 favorite episodes as far as "crazy" goes are 1-) The blonde that tried to sing at her reception and failed miserably and then blamed it on the band's singers. All the fake crying was painful to watch, and; 2-) The girl that almost killed the poor woman that was altering her dress. That poor woman.

I know everything is exaggerated for the cameras, but I don't think I could even dream up faking some of it...like the girl who went postal because the bouncer at the club wasn't good looking or something.

I can't stand to watch that show usually... However, I did see part of an episode last week and the girl was INSANE. She was really ugly to everyone...her BMs, her hairdresser, everybody! Might be the same one you're talking about @Ryan. She even said she was "a f'ing Bridezilla and proud of it."

My mom constantly called me a bridezilla cause I wouldn't let the guys wear sneakers to our Friday night wedding...it was driving me crazy I didn't care what they did at the reception but the ceremony was not a place for sneakers it was a semi formal wedding.

Oh my gosh! Those ladies are nuts! I understand something going wrong and having a "moment" and getting upset- but these women have full blown, psychological breaks from reality. @ Emily- I saw that one w/the chick crying about rain 3 days before her wedding! My FH watched it w/me and we were dumbfounded! The she went nuclear on the limo ppl b/c the limo wasn't ready 3 days in adn=vance...?! My hubs will sometimes joke, call me "bridezilla" just b/c he knows how crazy the women are- but assures me that he's only joking. My BM's are so great too- we all crack up at how insane those women are- my girls are always tell me that I'm so "chill" when it comes to wedding stuff. Which I'm glad they don't think I'm a tyrant or crazed lunatic like those women. Don't get it wrong- I stress, but I deal w/it by planning- which generally seems make it easier for all involved, not harder. And shame on those women for being so rude to their BM's- too fat, ugly. Now THAT's ugly- (contd)

Those ppl are suppsoed to be your best friends and what not- it's nuts. I was like many of you- said pick out a black dress (my chosen color) and I'd rather every1 be in the same dress versus different ones" I left it totally open ended, and trusted them.

I think they hamm it up for the camera for sure- that fake crier lady was the worst!! She was blonde and an "actress" ?! I felt like she used the episode as some sort of b-roll to show case her "range" of emotions, which all just ended up looking insane. I love that show though b/c it makes me feel so much less stressed, crazed and worried. It's like- oh yeah, I'm not losing my mind I just need to take a break from wedding stuff or w/e the case is- those ladies are truly bananas. Smiley smile

I have no doubt that it is for real. I mean everyone is a little different when being taped. But the one couple said it was between buying a house and having a wedding.

    give me a break.

I made FM watch it too, but he can only handle one every like 2 weeks cause the people on them are the exact kind of people he has no tollerance for.

I have not missed an episode of Bridezillas which I dont know why because everytime I watch it, it angers me because of those dumb girls. I know if I threw my FH X-box and broke it he would leave me. Bridezilla Karen was one of the worst ones by far. She was the one who took everything out on her seamstress, and the doorman at the club becuase she wasnt allowed to wear her sash and tiara. She didnt even want to make room for her aunt in the wheelchair. The other horrible one was the girl who smashed her centerpiece outside because she didnt like it and she smashed the cake because she wanted chocolate and not white. I could go on and on but it would just anger me, with how horrible they all act.

I think they over do it because it is for TV. I can't imagine being that nasty to the FH and family.

I went to school with one of the girls on that show, and was friends growing up with her older sister. and she still lives close to me you can look up her episode "kim & jerry". I can tell you first hand... that how that family acts on a day to day, after the episode aired she went on our local news channel trying to save face, saying it was all staged, but i grew up with her, and was really good friends with her older sister Dee....thats JUST how they act ALL the time. lol

@amanda....this is the girl that broke her husands x-box...lol
