Bringing in furniture to the venue

Katarina, on February 1, 2022 at 4:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi all! My FH and I are getting married at a beautiful old house and most of the decor/furniture is being provided by the venue. However, I have my heart set on doing a fun display for our seating chart. I found a cool bookshelf for the setup that I could use in my office after the day. So the question: has anyone brought in their own furniture to a venue? What were transportation and logistics like? Do you regret it? Trying to decide if the vision is worth the hassle.

For my daughters wedding we created a large seating area with chairs, a rug, an old chest, tables and other decor. Luckily her fiancé had a large enclosed trailer to transport it but it was a lot of work and then we had to take it all down the next day. For just a book shelf you should be ok.

Thanks Cyndy! Part of the worry is that I don't know if the venue would let us pick it up the next day. And, we'll be leaving for our honeymoon, so someone else will have to deal with it.

I would just ask what their policy is and have a plan for someone to pick up early the next morning.

Some venues will not allow outside furniture, especially if they have hard wood floors. So the first step is to check if its allowed. If allowed you need to ask when all decor needs to be out of the venue. Most venues require everything to be gone by the end of your rental time. Some, however will allow you to come back the next day. If thats the case, you need to find out who they will let into the venue, what time etc.. My cousins wedding you could go back the next day, but everything had to be out by 10am. This bummed out the group going back for the vases as they had been drinking late into the night and didn't want to get up, get dressed and drive back to the venue.

I personally think it would be to much of a hassle, but everyone has a different tolerance level for this type of task.
