Broken foot 13 days before my wedding!

Tricia, on October 11, 2022 at 1:49 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 6
I need help. I broke my foot at work yesterday and am going to an orthopedic doctor today to find out exactly how bad. I’m either gunna be in a cast, or a boot and more than likely non weight bearing. I’m distraught. What do I do? What CAN I do?

Oh no! I am so sorry. This really sucks. I’m not a dr, but it seems like there is nothing you can do. You’ll have to just go with the flow at this point. I was in a boot for 2+ weeks a couple of years ago. And even once I was in a brace it was rough. Or you could heal fast and in 2 weeks it will hardly be an issue.
If you can rest as much as possible, you may be able to ask the dr for a brace to wear during the ceremony. If it’s too difficult to walk at all, you can already be at the alter when the ceremony starts. I know that takes away the dramatic walking down the isle part.
The most important thing is to rest and take care of yourself. Your wedding will be beautiful and perfect no matter what. I hope you have a speedy recovery and feel better soon.

One of my best friends broke her foot the week of her wedding! Luckily she wore a long dress and the photographer was able to make sure you couldn't see it in any of the photos (except a few silly ones where she showed it off on purpose!) She still had the best time!

She walked with two people for extra support (dad and another male relative) and had a chair at the alter in case she needed to sit, but ended up being totally fine standing for the ceremony. Her husband picked her up and carried her back down the aisle and it was so so cute!

For the reception, she had one of those knee scooters that she occasionally used to get around. But mostly danced holding on to other people.

She made sure to take pain meds, but also the adrenaline from the day made her not really focused on her sore foot. She did say it was really sore for the few days after, but it was totally worth it. Also, remember she broke hers the week of, so you should be more healed by the wedding day (Hopefully!!)

Hi I'm so sorry that had happened to you. I thought you getting wheel half the way and then who ever is walking the aisle and then have your groom help you the rest of the way. I know that you are bit up mess this manageable and as the other ladies comment to rest it as much as you can. Whatever else needs to be done it can be done by phone or zoom or computer. And then tell your orthopedic doctor about a brace or a really good stable boot so while you're standing up so it's not too much pressure. And for the other things that will be commdated so you can enjoy your wedding day

Compression. Elevation. No walking if necessary. Lots of rest! You’re going to absolutely rock that ankle/foot boot on your wedding day 😘 best of luck!
