Brooch bouquet, yay or nay?

bridetobe2017, on January 12, 2017 at 10:39 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 26

I am wanting to order a brooch bouquet and found one on etsy I fell in love with, but when I showed it to one of my bridesmaids she said she feels it would take away from my dress. Opinions please??

I'd say it adds more uniqueness. But go with what your heart says. If you like that more than flowers, I say go with it!

I am also planning on doing a brooch bouquet!! I love the idea and think that it will add to your gorgeous dress! I also like the fact that it is much easier to save and cherish than a real flower bouquet.

No offense, but unless they are crafted by true artisans, I'm not a fan. All I see are old brooches (and I'm old enough to remember those inexpensive brooches pinned to the lapels and neck bows of my middle-aged aunts and grandmothers).

I remember taking part in one wedding expo several years ago, and two women handcrafted brooch bouquets. Oh my God, did that sparkling, perfect display catch my eye -- and hold my attention for the balance of the afternoon. Beautiful? That didn't begin to describe their work. As a florist, I was intrigued by what was on their table. Their bouquets were absolutely glorious. I wasn't looking at brooch bouquets; I was looking at art. These women used the highest quality pieces, and their designs were absolutely mesmerizing. I remember thinking, "Wow, these pieces actually compete with real floral pieces."

I spent ten minutes picking up their boquets, studying them, questioning the sellers, and telling them that they were genuine artists. The lowest price tag I saw was $535 for a bouquet. Was it worth it? Yes...these were the work of genuine artists. Did they sell any pieces? No. They needed to show their work to a different clientele -- not the bridal show expo crowd -- and I hope they did because these two ladies were exceptional.

DIY brooch bouquets? The majority of them look like old brooches stuck into styrofoam, as far as I'm concerned. Unless they are crafted by genuine artisans, I fail to see the attraction. Sorry.

My friend had one, keep in mind they're super heavy! Hers was gorgeous and didn't take away from anything. This one is gorgeous and I think it would really go well with your dress!

They're not really my jam. You have gorgeous dark hair and with your tattoo sleeve I think a floral bouquet would really enhance your dress and you!
