Brunch Wedding Timelines

Talk to your photographer and hair/makeup artists. Making timelines is part of their job. are you wondering when they should arrive or when the reception should start and end?


The industry standard time is set by venues and most have 4-5 hours from start to finish for everything including setup/tear down and don’t sway from that. You may be able to find a venue that lets you stay longer but you will need to get creative and step outside of traditional wedding venues.

My daughter had a brunch wedding/reception. The ceremony started at 11:00 and was over before 11:30. Then she had "cocktail hour" --a gourmet coffee/tea bar and a mimosa bar (beer, wine. Champagne also with signature drinks) along with pastries and yogurt parfaits. Then brunch buffet started around 12:20 after the wedding party was introduced and first dance. About 1:15 they had dances with parents and cake cutting (they had tiered cinnamon rolls) then dancing and lawn games. It was over around 4-4:30.

When i was Planning my big wedding, I was going to have my brunch 30 min before the hair and make-up team arrived. I knew I was only going to have 1 hair touch up person (someone that was just going to touch up hair since we were already going to have hair done) and 1 or 2 make-up artists so, brunch would have been going on during this time.

This was just how i was going to do, I understand everyone had a different agenda for brunch, but I knew it was going to work out.

I love the idea of a brunch wedding! Here's an article I found. The timeline in it has the reception/buffet served at 11:30, which I think is a good time for brunch. Are you planning on having music or dancing? What kind of venue are you looking at?

I recently went to a brunch wedding that was lovely, the ceremony was at 10 am and the reception was at 11:30 (it was about a 30 min drive from the ceremony location to the reception). It was a beautiful wedding but the bride said they were up super early for hair and make-up. They had a fancy coffee and tea bar(with some alcoholic options to add to the coffees), a fresh juice bar, mimosas and beer selections, delicious brunch food, and a donut wall. There were the traditional dances but not much dancing otherwise they did have some nice music playing throughout the event. Happy planning to you!
