Brunch wedding!

Jennifer, on January 4, 2020 at 4:42 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 11
Hi everyone!!

I just got engaged over Christmas and I’m diving head first into planning. We are BIG brunch people and when I came across the idea of a brunch wedding I fell in love. So here’s the thing, we’re both in education so we’re looking at a summer wedding. I’m looking around at venues for the actual ceremony and keep seeing outdoor venues. Would I be absolutely crazy to have a morning ceremony outside... in the summer.... in Texas? tenor.gif

I don't think so. If you could have a tent for the reception time I think outdoors would be beautiful. Yes it's hot out but people will expect that! I think you just have to be ok with the possibility of people dressing more casually rather than dressing up in "wedding" clothes. If it's bruch you may have planning on that anyway!

You wouldn’t be crazy, but it wouldn’t exactly be considerate. Your guests comfort should be a top priority, so unless you can also budget for tents and fans, I would consider other options.

Maybe a little crazy lol. Hopefully you're not too far south? You could get away with it, maybe, in the Dallas area. If there's plenty of shade and you keep the ceremony short, you should be ok.

Also forgot to say this would just be for the ceremony that would take place at about 10/11 am the reception would be inside!

The reception would be inside this would just be for the ceremony! Yeah I had started to think that people might dress more casually with the brunch feel but that’s okay with me!

Honestly, I’d consider just taking your wedding pics outside. I went to a summer wedding... in Phoenix, in August, at noon. The ceremony and reception were inside but it was 110 degrees outside and miserable getting into our cars to go to the wedding. A lot of sweaty & cranky guests.

    A brunch wedding sounds amazing! 🍳 🥓 🥞

I grew up in Texas and I wouldn’t do this. In the summer it’s always too hot out to walk the dog by 7am and it just continues to get warmer as the day goes on.

I think the ceremony outside is totally fine then. It's not like you're expecting people to be out in the sun for two hours. It will be beautiful!

I saw a groomsman faint at an 11:00 June wedding in NC so it makes me nervous

Ceremony outside is fine but get airbrushed make up so it will last and I would let the guests know. Look at country clubs or hotels with a brunch option. Many will have that.

I live in Texas and I think it would be fine. I would definitely make it a more casual dress code so men don't have to be in a full tux but I think people can live sitting outside for 20 minutes. Try to find a venue with a big tree for shade.
