Budget Breakdown?

Mrs. CK, on September 27, 2016 at 12:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 92

So I know talking about finances on here can be a little tricky, but I wanted to help those who are newly engaged see what REAL budgets look like. So, if you feel like it, post your budget breakdown below.

Try to include your general location (doesn't have to be exact!) and number of guests

Feel free to link to vendors and even add a picture or two!

    Not married yet but here is how it is going so far:

    Getting married in Princeton, NJ (ugh prices!) approximately 120 people

    Venue (include food, open bar, cake, all tables/chairs/linens/silverware, DOC) close to $16,000 (with 10% winter wedding discount)

    Photographer - $2900 for 8 hours

    DJ with uplighting - $2195

    Dress w/ all accessories (shoes, veil, faux fur stole, jewelry) and alterations - about $3100

    Wedding rings - $390 for mine, $115 for his (mine from Etsy, his is LOTR one ring)

    Flowers - $1475 (includes 12 centerpieces, bridal bouquet, 5 bridesmaids, 2 mothers, 2 fathers and 6 groom/groomsman - and little things to hang on aisles at church)

    Invitations/Save the dates - $500

    Transportation to church and from church to reception for bridal party - $600

    Suit - Free! (Rent 5 get groom free at Men's Warehouse)

    Videographer - $1350 for 6 hours

    Favors - $192 for 240 chocolates

    Gifts for bridal party - $500 (~50 each) & parents ~$400 (parent photo albums)

    Church - $300 plus license I think is $75

    Honeymoon - $4000

    Rehearsal Dinner - $1000 + ~250 for decorations/alcohol

    Budget was originally $30,000 ($35000 with honeymoon) looks like we will go a little over.

    Average for my Princeton on costofwedding.com is $50,594 so definitely under average!

    Eta: My hair/makeup is $150 and nails $60...I didn't include that originally because I'm using pulling it from my personal spending money for that month instead of wedding budget money

    Eta part 2 - since others mentioned...we did get help from parents, if not this would be a under 50 person Saturday brunch wedding for about $8000. I'm all about spending what you can afford and finding a wedding that fits into your dream and price range =) and I love brunch.

    We are not married yet so some of these are estimates, but we are coming in right on budget so far.. which is around $15,000. We are in the suburbs of Chicago, but getting married on a Friday in winter, which led to some discounts.

    All inclusive banquet hall venue (Includes full dinner, 4 passed apps, open bar, cake, linens, basic centerpieces) for 130 people = $6,500 (could be less depending on guest count) http://www.concordebanquets.com/

    Ceremony rental room with chairs and set up at same venue but different room = $1,200

    Photographer = $2,000 http://ashleyhancockphotography.com/

    DJ = $900

    Flowers = $800 http://www.aperfectpetal.com/

    Dress = $1,000 (David's Bridal)

    Alterations = $400

    FH suit = $200

    Invites, stationary, stamps = $250 (Zazzle, Vistaprint)

    My wedding band = $600

    FH's wedding band = $25 (passed down from grandpa, just needed to be resized)

    Favors, welcome bags, bridal party gifts = $400

    Hair and makeup for me and my bridesmaids if they choose to do it = $450

    Marriage license = $35

    Contingency/taxes/tips = $1,000

    Not included - my engagement ring, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon.

    Following! I don't have my list with me of all the prices but we were given a specific amount of money by our parents and we'll end up going about 3,000 over it I think. We splurged on the things we really wanted

    Buffalo, NY 58 guests

    Total, with rings $8,800.00

    Inclusive venue $5,200

    Dress $300

    Accessories (veil, shoes, groom & BM ties) $120

    Hair/MUA $170

    Flowers $410

    Photog $450

    Officiant $200

    DJ $200

    Invitations, inc. postage $120

    Misc décor/DIY stuff $250

    Rings $1,300

    Bridal party gifts (only MOH and BM) $100

    Minimized costs by having just BM and MOH, they wore whatever they wanted and DH already owns a tux. Inclusive venue was easier (I live across the state) and probably cheaper overall. It included top shelf open bar for five hours, appetizers (displayed and passed) and excellent plated dinner of filet and shrimp. Cake and rehearsal dinner were gifted to us by family.

    Weddings in certain areas are MUCH more expensive than others. The cheapest venue we found in our area (NJ) was $160 per person. We chose a $190 PP option that also offered up to $275 PP. For a 150 person wedding that is nearly $30,000! AND THIS IS JUST THE VENUE! Forget the $5,400 photographer, $2,200 DJ, $3,800 videographer and the many other items we haven't even priced yet! It's unbelievable but I'm still spending it. Trying to keep it at $45,000.

    Philadelphia: not married yet

    Ceremony $1200

    Valet parking $1200

    Dress $1200

    Shoes $265

    Hair/make up: $150

    Photography $1800

    BM dresses $187 each (3girls)

    Florist: $2300

    Honeymoon $6100

    Not sure what final costs will be. I have money I'm setting aside and using as needed so I'm not really budgeting either. My parents are covering venue, flowers, favors, invites, std, parking, ceremony and transportation

    FH parents are covering RD, photography, bar bill (we broke down the pp cost) and 5k towards honeymoon

    FH and I are covering BP gifts, videography/photobooth, extra for honeymoon and any other expenses that pop up.

    My grandmother covered the dress and will alterations as well.
