Budget Brides what did you budget for flowers?

Kayla, on December 24, 2019 at 9:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I have a 5/6k budget. Photographer was gifted so thats a huge price tag taken off the total. We are getting married in spring and I really want to incorporate a lot of bright flowers. Our invites are very floral! I found a florist who I LOVE!!! She quoted me around $800 for bridal bouquet, flower crown for my daughter, 2 bouts, 2 chapel alter arrangements, and 18 mix of 3-4 stems bud vases and 7-10 stem larger vases for our cafe tables at our reception, as well as flowers to put on our cake. I guess I just have never spent so much money on flowers. Does this sound reasonable? I was so excited but now Im started to think maybe I should cut some things out. I originally wanted to stay under $500 for floral.

I did fake flowers and spent only $100! You can find really nice, real looking fake ones for very cheap, look for coupons and sales! Smiley smile

I think the only way you can get that amount of flowers for cheaper, would be to DIY & buy in bulk. But, that will be a lot of work for you & anyone you can enlist to help you.

Hi Kayla, it depends on the florist, the flowers you want and we’re you live. We had one florist quote us $2700 for 1 bride, 3bridesmaids, 2flower girls, 7 bouts, 5 courage’s, 5 small, 5 med, 5 large centerpieces, flowers for sweetheart table and cake, isle greenery. We had another florist quote us $1600 for all of that plus 2 large wine barrel arrangements. We are using seasonal flowers with both. I was dead set on having real flowers then I found a woman who makes incredible silk flowers at a local wedding show. So we ended up spending $1000 total by using the 2nd florist and silk flowers. The bouts, courage’s and 2/3 of our centerpieces will be silk everything else will be fresh. I think I would check around it seems a little pricy

$800 is still really cheap for everything you’ve asked for! But you could always do fake flowers for the vases so you can keep them long term.

Thanks for all the input. Fake flowers are not an option for us. We are such flower people and always have fresh flowers in our home so I just cant see us going that route. At the same time it hard to rationalize spending so much money or something that wont last forever...

I’m a fresh flower kinda bride too, and what I’m gonna do is buy flowers in bulk from the local Kroger and arrange myself with the help of my bridesmaids. I’ve talked to the florist there and she was very helpful and basically they can help me order whatever I want. The price is really good, like $20 for a dozen of roses. I highly recommend checking with local grocery stores that have a florist!

I'm planning on getting our flowers from our Saturday Farmer's Market. There are a couple vendors who do big, beautiful, bright bouquets of whatever is currently in season. We almost always have them in our house when the market is running (April-Oct), so makes it even more fitting. They are $10-$15 a bouquet and I'm just going to split them up into smaller bunches for my bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets and centerpieces. The bridesmaids and my bouquet will be used as centerpieces and/or other reception decor after the ceremony. The bouquets are big enough I should only need 2 to make my bouquet and 6 bridesmaids bouquets. I will also be getting a couple that will stay full size for some ceremony/reception decor. I will most likely have a florist do boutonnieres for groomsmen and if we end up doing corsages for MOB/MOG, just because I don't want to mess with making them. Altogether it's looking like I'll be able to keep it under $200.

I bought some fake flower arrangements from macys for our cake table and cocktail tables. They have a real effect but I also liked the idea of being able to use them after the wedding. Maybe you could add some of those into your budget and rid of some of the real flower costs? Also, macys and kohls do their extra cash so eventually you may get some arrangements for free!

I will tell you that if flowers are important to you then you have to spend the money to get what you want. Flowers were incredibly important to me abd I decided to go with a cheap florist because the budget my husband created didn't have a huge floral budget. I regret going with a cheap florist because nothing turned out like I wanted.

I think 800 is a great price for all those flowers! I really wanted real flowers too and had such a hard time justifying the cost! What made me feel better was doing a lot of research on florists have having a few consultations so I knew I was getting the best price! I also have all my quotes as the max amount so when we hopefully dont max out the venue we will go down with the total cost. Our estimate is around 1700 and that was as good as we could do so I’m happy with that number because it’s the best we could get

We spent only $250 for flowers. But we had just two bridal bouquets, one MOH bouquet, one bout, and some flower petals for scattering. All our centerpieces were nofloral.

I used Budget Brides - they are a fake flower company, and we spent less than $500 on BP flowers and flowers for centerpieces.

Live flowers are always going to be expensive, honestly.

Wow, $800 on fresh flowers seems quite reasonable! I’m with you—Team Real Flowers. To save a bit o’ money could you consider 1) skipping the chapel arrangements, 2) for the BM bouquets just doing a single stem which can look very elegant?

I second this! That’s super super low cost for that amount of flowers and unless you’re DIYing I really don’t think you’ll find anything cheaper!

I’m also on a budget and I’m just buying my bridal bouquet and bouts from the florist and my aunt is helping me DIY the rest of the arrangements.
    Good luck!!

    That price seems pretty good!

I just went through this process. I got my bouquet, 5 bm bouquet, 1 small flower girl bouquet, 6 corsages (for mob, grandmas, stepmom of groom, etc), 6 boutonnieres (fob, fog, etc), 5 GM bouts, 1 groom bout, archway arrangement, and a small arrangement to put on our sweetheart table that's mostly greenery, and 4 chair decorations for the first 2 rows of chairs on each side of aisle to reserve for family.

No centerpiece decor because I'm using books as centerpieces.

    My total was about $800.
