budget friendly (10k) wedding in Cape Cod???

sarah, on January 27, 2016 at 12:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

Hello everyone, I am hoping to plan a wedding, hopefully in the Cape, for under 10k for around 120 people, I know this is probably impossible to do but would appreciate any suggestions you might have. It does not have to be in Cape Cod, my fiancé would just really like a water view, we are from the Walpole area (Near Gillette Stadium). Thanks for your help in advance!!

That's gonna be tough but not impossible. We are doing 75 in western mass and despite our best efforts we are definitely over 10k and that's with a friend doing our music and photography. Do research and decide what you might be willing to scale back on and it could be possible.

I'm originally from that area and I don't think that is possible, especially if you are thinking September since that is prime wedding season. If you want to do the Cape or a beach view it is going to be over $10k or you need to pick off season, Dec-Mar. I had 2 good friends get married down the Cape this past year, both had about 150 and I now both were well over $10k.

I really don't think its possible but good luck.

I have been to this place it is right on the water and there is a gorgous windmill. Its $75pp. So if the $10k is for the venue, it would work.

Nope. Sorry to be a downer but I spent my entire life until two years ago living on Cape. If your entire budget is 10K there is no way that will be enough for 120 people.

My FH and I met on Cape and wanted to go back to have our wedding there (my entire family is still there) We had 150 and couldn't make it work for under $24K. We are now going to have a smaller ceremony on the west coast with a party thrown later on Cape.

Cur you guest list or maybe look at water venues off Cape.

Are you just looking for a venue right now? Our friends got married at the Lighthouse Inn in West Dennis. It was absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a photographer, I highly recommend AVR photography. They have fantastic pricing and can work with your needs. Good luck!!

Not to be a jerk, but it's ON Cape. Not IN Cape. Just wanted to clarify.

I know a lot of people that have gotten married down at Race Point in Provincetown. 10k during the high season is going to be hard to do though. You will probably have to think offseason. March/April and October/November are still beautiful times down here, but wayyyyy less people and so much cheaper!

Over half of that will probably be on food if you plan on having a full meal. I'm not sure about water views but definitely check out state and local parks as cheap venues. Look for part-time or student photographers whose work you like, they charge a lot less than people who do it full-time.

You're looking at prime season, in over a year and a half, in a popular place that is pretty much always expensive.

You know what comes next....cut the guest list.

Even if you rent a public park, you still need permits, food, staff, equipment...

And Holly, please stop with the student photographer suggestion. It's a terrible one, just like pot lucks and making your friends and family work.

    Back to the drawing board.

It's going to be tough for that time of the year on the Cape. Like Melissa said, you're probably better off picking a date that's off season.

From there too. Difficult. You can do it in my grandmother's backyard in Falmouth with my crazy conspiracy-theoried uncle watching from inside?

That's going to be really difficult with your guest list. Massachusetts is expensive, and waterfront on the Cape in high season is even more expensive. If you had a smaller guest list, you might be able to consider buying out a waterfront B&B for the day, but that wouldn't be doable for so many people.

Maybe look into some venues on the North Shore or South Shore? I still think that will be a tight budget though, even if you go off-season.

$10k might cover your food and beverage at almost $84 a person including tax and gratuity.

10k in cape cod in september for 150? im gonna say straight up - nope, not gonna happen. even cape ann/north shore probably isnt possible. You might look at the Elks at Bass Rocks in Gloucester if the north shore is an option and you're willing to do a sunday afternoon heavy apps reception. Otherwise.. nope. We looked at venues all up and down the MA coast as FH is from the north shore - everything, from venues to caterers is very, very expensive.

$10,000 was our original budget for something on the water in Virginia. Literally anywhere in VA - river, ocean, whatever.

We couldn't make it work for 50 people in February on a Sunday. So...I'm gonna say yours is probably impossible. If it's what you really want, you *can* find people to cut on the guest list (we aren't inviting 12 out of 13 aunts/uncles) or, push back the date and save up longer.

Not necessarily cape but it's in hull on the south shore, nantasket beach resort! It's really pretty and I looked there as I want my wedding to have a water view as well. Not sure how many people you want to invite but give it a look!
