Hello everyone! This may be an odd question but would anyone mind sharing what their ballpark wedding budget is realistically?

My fiance and I started with a goal to do everything for around $5-6k, but are quickly realizing that is not realistic. We are cutting corners everywhere we can (with the exception of my dress) and are already at almost twice our original budget. We are paying for everything ourselves with the exception of a candy bar and favors that my sister is doing for us. It just keeps adding up and I'm freaking out. Is $10-12k reasonable for a wedding or have I fallen completely off the rails?

Hey Stella! I would definitely say that the pricing on the wedding wire calculator was way off from the estimates we were getting. Depending on the location of where you're having your wedding and your guest count, the average pricing for things can get pricey! We blew way past our budget unfortunately which totally sucks. $12,000 for a wedding is not going off the nails at all, that sounds completely reasonable and honestly, pretty low to me. So definitely don't stress about going over budget, there's only so many ways to cut corners when things just cost what they cost. There are some things you can DIY or go cheap on, but others just cost what they cost. My biggest budget tip while you plan is to find 2-3 things that are really important to you (ex: photography, music, food, anything that's important to you and your partner) and splurge and go all out on those things. Then save and skimp everywhere else.

Hi! I’m near your area and I’m struggling to find affordable places. What venue did you find for $1400?

Hey, Shai! I am getting married at Fairfax Hall Dining Room in Waynesboro, Virginia. It is a beautiful historic building and my fiance and I fell in love the moment we saw it.

I am in Boston - about 60 people - we are looking at 25-30k

Interesting to note that we were planning a hotel reception originally that was going to be around 30k - we have switched to our back yard - but we are still spending the same! Rentals really really really do add up!
