Budget Tips for Flowers

@brd2be, on February 24, 2017 at 3:10 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

So we have a very small budget for centerpieces and bouquets, which just got even smaller because we went a little over budget on DJ to get who we wanted. We definitely need to be under $1000 - for 6 bridesmaid bouquets, my bouquet and about 12-15 centerpieces. I am trying to think of the best way to save on flowers - I have decided I do not want to DIY because I don't want to be stressed about it that week. For centerpieces, we are going to use growlers because FH and I are really into craft beer - so the pieces would only have room for a few stems anyways. I know to choose in seasons flowers to help with cost - what other options are there? I am honestly not super particular about the bouquets either, I just want everyone to have something to hold but it definitely does not need to be overly fancy. Any tips?

For bouquets I've heard of people making paper bouquets which ends up being beautiful and very crafty. That can be an option that way you can add a little more flowers to your center pieces. Then for your bouquet have something beautiful because after all you are the bride

Is there a grocery store in your area that does floral?

We used growlers for our centerpieces too!

We paid about 800ish for our flowers through a grocery store florist but we only had:

    My bouquet

    MOH bouquet

    12 centerpieces

    5 wrist corsages

    5 boutonnieres

and bulk greenery pieces for DIY decor.

The only downside of using a grocery store florist (or at least the one I used) was a bit of a lack of timely communication. Other than that, I think they did a lovely job.

@MMB awesome! I think growlers look so fun on tables and it totally fits our personalities. Does the grocery store put the centerpieces together in the growlers and deliver them? That's really more of what I am worried about - I don't want to have to be schlepping those things around with me the day of the wedding.

Yes, ours did. We dropped off the growlers about a week before the wedding and she delivered and set them up on the tables the day of.

Just make sure that's what they'll do in your contract.

    Yay! Growler centerpieces twins!

We're going to do wheat and hops for our's instead of flowers. Something like this:

@punkin beer I love those! I thought about that but flowers is one thing my mom is kinda sad I am not that into, so I'm going to throw a few in there to make her happy.

Thanks for the advice @MMB! I will definitely try that! How far in advance did you get them involved? I wasn't going to even look for a florist until at least a year out.

I believe we booked them in September for our wedding in January....we procrastinated.

I would start talking to them at about a year out and see what they say.

I don't have all of my pro photos back yet but, these were our inspiration pics for flowers in growlers....

Focus on the personal flowers and use fake flowers for the centerpieces.

This is possible. i'm in CT, which is a very expensive area, and my flowers will only be $1200! I shopped around every florist I could find for pricing. We are getting 5 BM bouquets, my bouquet, 8 bouts, 3 corsages, and 15 centerpieces. We're using sunflowers and white roses. I got quotes ranging from $****, and went with the best, lowest quote I found that i felt comfortable with. It was a LOT of research, but so worth it.

I love the hops and wheat/barley idea! We are big craft beer fans but growlers dont fit the rest of our wedding. Sad. If you can find hops on the vine thatd make cool centerpieces. Or even just garland and some scattered hops. Add some candles and you don't even have to worry about the growlers
