Hi…so i’m kinda stuck in a pickle. my FH told me that his best man was planning on surprising us with a saxophonist at our wedding. he put in a deposit for him but still has to pay a remaining balance. my FH wanted to surprise me but since our venue doesn’t like surprises, he kinda had to. anyways, best man is telling FH that he cannot afford it anymore and getting a live musician was not in our budget even if we wanted one. what do we do?!

I would just revert back to whatever your plan was before you knew about the best man’s plan.
You don’t have to worry about the deposit or contract with the saxophonist, that will be up to the best man to figure out. Most likely he will just have to break the contract and forfeit his deposit

It's honestly up to the best man to deal with this. He is the one that signed the contract and paid the deposit. It's his issue to handle.

Oh dear, how annoying to have to deal with this on top what I imagine is already a pretty long to do list!
A shame that your FH's BM started something he couldn't finish. I agree with the previous posters that its nothing to do with you - he paid the deposit so it is his loss. If needed your FH can explain to him that you do not have the wriggle room in the budget to cover a musician - but you shouldn't have to make this clear to him as he organised it!
