Budgeting in Florida!

Giselle, on January 15, 2020 at 11:46 AM Posted in Florida Planning 0 4
Hello! I’m recently engaged and I’m already freaking out. Yes, I know I should just enjoy my engagement and then worry about the wedding but my fiance and I decided to pay for it ourselves. I’ve been looking at some venues and everything I’ve found is around $12,000 (some with food and alcohol already included and taxes and gratuity). Is that the usual price? We were thinking about spending around 18k on the wedding so a 2 year engagement would give us time to save up - Or maybe will move it to 3 years if these are the normal prices.

Also, is it better to get a venue all inclusive or just the venue?
Sorry for the long text!

Of course it depends on the venue, date, how many people, etc.

I think in depends where you are in Florida but I’m in the Tampa bay area and my venue is less than $2000 and very pretty, but not completely perfect (I.e. outdoors and no A.C). They’re helping with decorations and clean up but it’s not all inclusive. I have found some venues in my area for $3000 to $5000 that are not all inclusive, but include decorations and day of coordinators. I think whether or not you go all inclusive really depends on the venue and how much you want to spend on catering, drinks, etc. A lot of venues don’t have their price online but they are still have reasonable prices!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Giselle. Once you start looking at prices for a wedding, it can certainly be a sticker shocker.

Typically the largest expense in a wedding is the venue. It is affected by the date, area, how many people you’re inviting, etc. One of the main places to cut back if you wish to spend less is your guest list. Having a smaller guest list means less money on catering, decor, etc. Of the quotes you’ve seen, for how many people are they? Does it align with the number of guests on your list?

A really helpful tool I wanted to share with you is the WeddingWire cost guide. Using your location, you can see the average amount spent on different wedding vendors. For example, in Tampa, most couples spend between $2,800 - $11,000. This is only an average as pricing can vary widely. Check it out. I think you’ll find it super informative Smiley smile

My venue is all inclusive for $8,300. The company was just starting out full time so I was able to get them a little cheaper than what they are now. The few things I do have to bring it that aren’t included are photographer, alcohol, and officiant of course. We got engaged in March 2019, because we live here in Florida we wanted a month that was not crazy with weather and I always wanted a winter starry night themed wedding so we settled for November. We budgeted about $12,000 for everything but we are hoping to be at about $10,000. I hope this helps! Smiley smile
