So I'm in the early stages of planning and in my head I thought if I offer a buffet style reception , people have plenty to eat and will enjoy themselves .Bur now I'm reconsidering because 70 people at a buffet can end up being chaotic and time consuming .so my question is: is there anyone who served a buffet at their wedding and how did that workout ? Tips and advices are welcome

    My brother had over 100 at his wedding and it was a buffet-- as others have said, we were called up by table, so you could chat at your table till the line was short, then get your food and get out of everyone's way.

    I was married 18 years ago and did a buffet cause it was cheaper. If I were getting married today, I'd do a buffet so I wouldn't have to worry about my vegetarian/vegan/gluten intolerant/lactose intolerant friends. I cannot *imagine* trying to accomodate all of today's wacky diets (which shouldn't be the host's job, anyway....) with plated meals!

    We are doing buffet and stations. The Dj will call up each table so there's no rush or confusion.

    Definitely have someone call up tables to the buffet so that there's not one giant line. Most of the wedding buffets I've been to did that, and it worked perfectly. I did go to a wedding recently that had stations, and they let everyone get their food at the same time. We had to wait in long lines for each station, so by the time we got back to our seats, the food from the first couple of stations was cold. If you stagger it, you won't have that problem at all.
