Buffet dinner question

McKenzie, on August 4, 2021 at 8:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 12
If choosing a buffet style dinner, will we need to put the dinner options on our “rsvp” cards? I understand we will still need RSVP’s but does the venue need to know what the guests want for the buffet options?

We also plan on doing a buffet styled wedding and will not be putting meal options on RSVP cards. There will be plenty to choose from, they can decide at the buffet.

Hi McKenzie! Double check with your vendor, but I went to a wedding with a buffet and no meal choice was needed on the RSVP. ❤️

We had a buffet, and did not have to ask our guests to indicate their choices on the RSVP, people chose what they wanted on the spot. We did, however, have little labels for all the different foods, so people knew what they were getting.

Typically venues don't need headcounts for a buffet. It's pretty common for people to take a little of everything, so they usually plan accordingly.

We're doing a buffet and didn't put the food choices on our rsvp cards. We did put a line for people to add a "Dietary Note" though (That was in case of vegetarians. I already know we've got a few, and there is a separate plated meal available for them.)

We're having a buffet as well. We didn't post menu options. They'll just decide when they get there. We have 3 options plus salad and a fully stocked dessert table. They're bound to find something.

Not usually needed, but good idea to check with the vendor.

No because it's a buffet. Guests will get to choose whatever they want when they go up to get their food.

I did just in case we were to change our minds to plated. Our caterer told us that it wasn't necessary to provide meal options to the RSVP for buffet.

We are doing a buffet and our vendor does not require us to submit meal preferences. Guests can decide when they go up to the buffet on the day of your wedding. Of course, check with your vendor if you are questioning things

Typically, you do not need to specify individual meal choices on RSVP cards for a buffet-style dinner. Buffets offer a variety of options, and guests can choose what they want to eat at the event. In your RSVP cards, you can simply include a line for guests to indicate whether they will attend or not. However, it's essential to include a deadline for RSVPs so that you can provide the final guest count to the venue or catering service.

It's a good idea to communicate the style of the dinner (buffet) on the invitation so that guests are aware and can plan accordingly. If there are specific dietary considerations or options available (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free), you may include that information on the invitation or provide a separate space for guests to note any special dietary requirements on the RSVP card. While the dinner may not involve popular dishes like air fryer banana chips specifically, ensuring that your guests are aware of the overall style and potential dietary options can enhance their experience.
