Buffet or plated dinner?

What is everyone doing? I prefer buffet, but my FH prefers plated.

We are doing buffet. I prefer it because as a PP mentioned you aren't monitoring peoples food consumption and it gives more options. All leftovers will be taken to my MIL house for family to eat while we are on our honeymoon so nothing will go to waste!

I had a plated dinner. I've always preferred plated to buffet. Most weddings I've been to were also plated meals, so I think that's just more common in my area. I have never felt like I didn't get enough food, as it is usually a 3 course plated meal (appetizer, salad, and entree)

We're doing a buffet, but it isn't self serve. Our catering company will have people at the buffet serving the guests as they come through and make their selections

If it's an option by our wedding, I want to do buffet. We have some big eaters and I don't want anyone leaving hungry.

From a practical standpoint buffet is usually more expensive, also because of covid it might not be allowed.

We only have 25 people, we're still toying with the idea. Of course plated is more expensive but we will be seated banquet style so it might be better.

It depends on the number of guests. The higher the count, the more likely you should go with a buffet. It's a headache getting people just to RSVP, but then you have to see what they're eating, make place cards, seating chart, etc. Many people do not even use a seating chart with a buffet, so that kills two birds with one stone. Check with your venue though. Many are not offering buffets now because of covid.

It’s all the same price buffet or city so do a buffet you’ll have more selections of food

We had a Buffay style meaning. Our waiters were the only ones touching the food they had gloves and a face mask you can request it it’s much safer for everyone the size you have a bigger selection of food
