Hello, We are trying to decide between a plated meal and a buffet for roughly 200 people. The price for our cater is the same for both, so it is really comes down to what we want to do. What would be the best option for getting everyone food in a timely manor? Thank you.

Buffet!!! Your caterers should be able to pretty easily set up 2 lines or at the very least allow people to go on both sides. It really doesn't take much time at all.

We only had 125, but we had 2 buffets set up and that made it move quickly. I noticed you said you have people serving, and that makes everything move way quicker and more smoothly too !

Also! We opted to do plated salads served for the first course, so everyone had something to eat while they waited for their dinner. I think that worked out really well (and was way better than trying to include salad in a buffet)

We went to a 500 person wedding last year. It was a buffet and the wait was not even noticeable. We were in the back of the room and one of the last ones to go up. There were 2 buffets and with the catering staff actually serving from the buffet, the lines moved very fast.

I much prefer a buffet. I have yet to have a plated meal served to me hot and delicious. It's usually dry and warm at best. Blah. I also am a picky eater and I hate to waste food. I usually won't eat at least 1/3 to 1/2 of a plated meal.

We did the plated salad and buffet option as well. People really enjoyed being able to sit down and eat right away. It left more room on their plates for the good stuff too.

I despise buffets at weddings, especially large weddings. Plated all the way.

We have about 200, and are doing stations to help move things around. I have never been pleased by plated dinners, and if there are choices we have to have a way to indicate for our venue, which is just another cost

I agree with this. Plated salad with a buffet. The only reason I am not doing a plated salad with my buffet is because I am having a salad bar
