Burlap question

Married, on December 8, 2012 at 11:11 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

In an effort to save some money. My mom and I decided we were going to try and make the burlap chair ties ourselves. Does anyone know a good place to go to buy large amounts of burlap and how I would even figure out how to make enough chair ties for 300 ??

Place to buy your burlap I would say a fabric store like where I live Joann Fabric store's would carry something like that, also how to figure out how much for each chair, you would have to know what length times width times how many chair ties.. if that makes sense....good luck!

I am using burlap for my wedding and I found the cheapest place for me to get burlap was Joann Fabric. It was also on sale when I bought it so that was an added bonus. I was planning on making burlap chair sashes as well but was going to use burlap ribbon. Only because I find burlap starts to fray and I didn't feel like putting anti fray on 200 chair sashes. Here's a link to a website I was going to get it off of http://www.save-on-crafts.com/burlap27.html. They have a bunch of different widths and lengths. It turned out the lady I was renting my chair covers from had some burlap chair sashes and it was going to cost about the same to make them as she was going to charge me to rent them, so I decided to go with that option. Hope that helps! And good luck!

Might I recommend buying lots of glue too. I used white school glue around teh edges of my burlap so it didn't keep shedding pieces.

I used TONS of burlap for my wedding and got it all from JoAnne's. My advice, NEVER buy it w/o a 50% off coupon.

If you have a smart phone download the JoAnne's app. There is ALWAYS at least two 50% coupons and one 40% coupon on there.

Also, before you start work, check RecycledBride.com, I have seen burlap chair sashes for great prices on there!

Thanks! I've bought a few things from recycled bride and I just didn't know if it would be cheaper to make them on my own, probably not lol so I'll order them from there!
