Bus Rental

Erin, on September 16, 2019 at 4:50 PM Posted in Colorado Planning 0 6
The venue I’ve fallen in love with is on a minor mountain in Golden CO. They have enough parking for all of my guests to drive separately, but as the location is attached to a nature preserve they recommend carpooling or renting a bus.

A majority of our our guests are coming from out of state, so I think the bus idea would be ideal, at least to get those guests to the venue with minimal opportunity for people to get lost or stuck.

I know charter buses can get pretty expensive, but I’ve been looking into renting a school bus. One of my cousin’s did it, and it worked out really well.

Does anyone one know how to go about renting a school bus and how much it might cost (I’m having the hardest time finding that information while searching). The wedding is planned for April, but I’m sure one would probably be available for a Sunday, right?

I love Golden! It's a beautiful area. We had our wedding in Larkspur (south of Denver). More than half our guests were out of state, nearly all of them at our blocked hotel. I did research for awhile on guest transportation. I couldn't find school bus rentals to save my life. We ended up using A Ride in Luxury and paid $1,100 per bus roundtrip for each 55 person bus.

We just were in a friend’s wedding and they had a school bus! It was provided free by the hotel (Marriott) in addition to blocked rooms. I would see if your hotel has a shuttle service?

Marriott is one of the hotels that the venue recommends, I’ll have to check and see. Thank you.

Ooph, that’s pricey haha. Luckily I’d only need one bus xD cause I’d make our parents drive.

Did you have a good experience with the company you rented from?

That was the cheapest we found by far. That was a round trip ride, 30 minute drive each way. That also included a mandatory tip. We included all our guests, we knew our parents would want to drink and didn't want to force them to drive. We had around 80 guests use the buses. I liked the company overall, we used them for smaller buses too (one for bridesmaids & one for groomsmen & one for limo getaway car) and that experience was way better. One of our 55 person buses was 45 minutes late (so delayed our ceremony and wedding) because of an accident on I-25. I wouldn't even be mad but I had originally requested they take CO 105 instead, knowing how bad I-25 is and they ignored that. Other than that, everything was fine.

I-25 is the bane of my existence xD. You have to take I-70 to get to the venue, which could also be a disaster, but they do provide a full refund if a natural event causes a full shut down of the highway, which is good since rockslides are so common.

Good to know of one bus charter company that someone had a relatively good experience with, in case I have to go that route.
