Bustle for layered tulle?? How?

Alexandria, on March 20, 2018 at 1:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
I’m back with another question Smiley winking
do any of you future or past brides have/had a layered tulle gown? How did you get it bustled? I didn’t even think of this when purchasing, and not that I would have not chosen my dress but now I’m wondering!

You can probably do an under bustle, but the seamstress can probably give you some options!

My dress is very similar but in mermaid. My seamstress showed me a beautiful American bustle that I loved. But a French would look just as good! Especially with this dress.

I hate that we can’t edit posts. So I wanted to add that I live in Italy now and I don’t know a seamstress I can go to. I can ask for recommendations from my FH family but the way they do everything here is different and I just want to have some ideas before I go to someone, just in case they’ve aren’t familiar with different bustle styles.

When I looked at a similar dress, the alterations woman showed me how they "bustle" it to look like the rest of the tulle.

Hi Alexandria, The bottom of my dress was very similar to yours, and my seamstress did a ballroom bustle (of about 4 points), and she placed the buttons under the top (shortest) layer of the dress, so the layers weren't hidden when the dress was bustled. I hope that's somewhat helpful. Best of luck!

Do you have a photo of this? I haven't gone dress shopping yet but I really like this style of skirt and want to see how it can be bustled

Unfortunately, I don't have any great photos directly from behind after doing the bustle, but here's one from the side, during our sparkler exit at the end of the night. You can see that the bustle was done in such a way that you can still see the layers of the dress, although for some reason, the layers look kind of weird and bunched to the side in this particular photo :/

Thank you! The layers do make it kind of difficult to find the buttons for the bustle, so I strongly recommend that you practice beforehand with the person who is going to be doing the bustling on the day of the wedding.

My sister had a horsehair trim on her dress too. It was mermaid, and tons of layers. They literally put 10 little buttons and elastic loops under every. single. layer, in a horizontal line. It's hard to explain without a picture, but each button went along the seam separating the bodice of the dress from the skirt, and then the little invisible loops were sewn to the layers, and sort of picked up each layer and folded it in half as it was buttoned. That prob makes no sense whatsoever, I'm sorry lol. I wish I had a pic to share!

ETA kinda looked like this, but the buttons were hidden under each layer, not on top like the picture. The layers got shorter as they went up, so the top layer didn't need to be pinned.

Ha! No actually that makes total sense to me. Now that people are mentioning about bustling each layer, I can picture in my mind how it’ll be. Thanks!

Do you know what type of bustle this would be? Mine is like this, but I want to look up other pictures because I think my seamstress completely messed it up. Edit: Oops, you explained it. I'm just tired and not paying attention.

I have a Hayley Paige gown with layered, horsehair tulle-- which is gorgeous but I hadn't considered what a pain it is to alter!! My seamstress is making a bustle for the bottom few layers so they'll integrate with the rest of the skirt
