Hey Ladies! I'm looking for opinions on bustles. How would you bustle my dress? Or if you have/had a dress similar to it, how did you bustle yours?

I think the best person to ask is your seamstress. Mine ended up having a 14 point bustle.

Yeah, I haven't taken it to a seamstress yet, I'm just kind of trying to get an idea of what style of bustle I'd like. 14 points, wow! Was your train super long? Mine is what I'd consider kind of long but it's mostly lace and not very heavy.

I know right? 14! My train is probably the same as yours, but I have a few layers. So 7 points are underneath, and then the other 7 at the outer layer. I wouldn't even know how to bustle that if it wasn't for the seamstress. Heck, I had no idea what a bustle was until I had a gown. Lol

Pheeeww, that seems like a lot of bustling lol! I'm almost tempted to see if a wrist strap is doable with my train. That seems like the easiest option (at least in my mind, idk I'm not a seamstress lol) but then I'm also kind of like... will that get annoying toting around?

Is your dress pretty light? Then maybe a wrist strap may work. I have not seen a wrist strap for a train in person though.

Yeah, for the most part it's super light. The bulk of the weight is in the bodice. I still don't know how I feel about the wrist strap thing, but I love the lace on the dress so much that I'd hate to hide a lot of it in a bustle.

I have an American bustle, that just folds the train up and naturally blends it into the skirt. I posted a pic here: https://m.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/dress-fitting-a-line-cathedral-train-american-bustle/f99137fa42cbadf5.html

i could see something similar also working on your dress, although I have a waist band that easily hid the buttons

This was my bustle when it was pinned up before sewing. It was an 11 point. My dress was crepe and super light.

Your dress is beautiful! I love the way the bustle just makes it look like it's part of your skirt.

Wow, 11 point! Is it because of the fabric type? It looks beautiful on you!! I love me a long train Smiley love

It was the easiest for her to do and keep the lace detailing at the bottom visible!
It was done well and stayed up all night even with me stepping on my dress all night lol (the only problem I had with switching from heels to flats! Haha)
