Bustle or wrist strap?

Rebekah, on July 21, 2019 at 9:37 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 9
My first appointment for alterations is tomorrow. She asked me to have an idea of what I wanted for my bustle. My train is fairly long. Every picture of a bustle I’ve seen, I have hated. I’m wondering how many people have done a wrist strap? how did it work for you? not sure if it would work well with my train material, but I think I would prefer it..

I just used a wrist strap! I actually got tons of compliments on how it looked.

I’m planning on doing a wrist strap. When the stylist showed me what the bustle would look like the only thing that came to mind was a down comforter and I hated it.

The long lace train would look great with a wrist strap because your train doesn’t look that heavy. If you had multiple layers of puff it wouldn’t look as good. Go for it!
Your dress is drop dead gorgeous by the way, I totally would’ve picked that out to try on!

My dress looks very similar to yours and has a long train. I went with a traditional 3 tier bustle and I think it looks great. I was hesitant at first but I didnt want a wrist strap because my dress has a lot of layers and is heavy!

I say put the dress on and hold an end of it to see how you like doing that. A strap will be easier but if its heavy or you like to dance it might get cumbersome

I had a bustle on my first wedding dressing which I disliked and for my second wedding, I just carried my train flipped over my arm and that worked very well for me. I recommend having something a little more comfortable to change into after the formal photos are taken.

I had something called the American bustle on mine which was 5 buttons. I loved it and I danced the night away with it! I would’ve hated the wrist strap...to me it would be quite annoying! This is a picture of me dancing with my man and trying to get the bustle in there, and the length of my train.

I'm also not super crazy about bustles, but I know a wrist strap would drive me crazy over the course of the night, and I definitely don't want to change into a different dress or outfit. I went in for my first fitting about a week ago and she pinned it all up into a bustle, and I think it looks ok. Surely not as elegant as with the train down, but loads easier to move around in.

I’m right there with you ladies... I’m not a fan of the bustle and mine is lacy as well. I really hope they can do something that looks stunning... I’ve seen all kinds of bustles and I’m going to ask them about a ballroom bustle as sometimes those look very discreet and you can’t tell that the dress is bunched up. I’m not sure they are really a thing because my bridal salon wasn’t familiar with it. Go figure it’s the one I want 🤣
