Busty bridesmaid

Brittany, on December 31, 2017 at 4:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22
I have a bridesmaid that's bust is quite large. I would love to have strapless bridesmaid dresses but I don't want her to feel uncomfortable or be falling out the top of her dress. Is their a way to she can wear a strapless dress and keep everything together?

Busty girl problems, I feel for her! Alterations and bra have to be PERFECT, but it is possible!

"Is their a way to she can wear a strapless dress and keep everything together?"

Not unless you expect her to also buy an expensive bra.

A thoughtful bride considers what would look good on her bridesmaids and what they would feel comfortable wearing, when choosing a BM dress. If you choose a fabric, color and length from one designer, each BM can choose her own style.

I am quite busty and am absolutely uncomfortable in strapless bras. I would ask you to allow me to wear straps or bow out of the wedding...that’s how uncomfortable I would be. This is a question you should be asking your BM.

I am quite busty and hate strapless bras so much that when I had my wedding dress custom made I had them add straps just so I didn't have to wear a strapless bra. Just give your BMs the color and length of the dress and have them pick a style that is comfortable for them. That's what I did and their dresses were perfect and they were very happy.

Please not strapless for busty bridesmaids. I don't think anyone, expect for the dress wearer, can tell you how uncomfortable it is. Not to mention the pulling up of the dress all the time and discomfort of an strapless bra, even for the non-busty.

I'm on the bustier side as well (although busty can really be defined across a spectrum) and I don't love strapless bras, but I did like a strapless corset (not too tight, but holds everything up). However, I'd give your friend the option of NOT getting a strapless dress. My bridal party certainly has curves, but they can wear different styles. Several of them were #teamnormalbra. lol

Just FYI, the Wacoal Red Carpet strapless goes to 32H. I was able to try it on at Nordstrom and I'm a 32DDD-G. Recommend!

Back to OP, it's not just strapless. If it has straps but no back, if it's a low v-neck...it's possible to fall out of all kinds of styles, and possible to find a strapless that you DON'T fall out of. Your best bet is to let your bridal party tell you which dress styles will work for their bodies and not force them all to wear the same style. Also not ideal to have all the 'non-busty' girls in the same dress and only your busty friend in the 'not like the others' style, IMO.

I mean, what's busty? I'm 34 DD and both my wedding dresses were strapless. One came with a wide band that closed in the back (hidden) to keep it up and the other was fine as it was. Strapless bras and torsolettes are available at department stores, but cna be pricey, depending on what she wants. I'm in favor of giving your bridesmaids a color and length and letting them choose the style.

Unfortunately the cheaper strapless dresses don't work well for a larger chest. You'd have to choose a really expensive dress in order for strapless to work, i.e. a type with a built in corset. I wouldn't want to try a strapless dress with most BM gowns. I would much prefer to wear a bra under the dress. It's not only for holding up everything, it's that for larger chests, the breast tissue spills out over top of the strapless dress.

Strapless is the arch enemy of anyone with a large bust. I myself am avoiding anything strapless for my bridal gown when I go shopping. Have you considered convertible dresses? My cousin's bridesmaids had them recently and it was really nice, I will be going the same route myself. The dress comes with 2 long pieces of fabric by the top, which the bridesmaids can choose anyway to wear, and there are TONS of possibilities! It's the same dress, just with a different neckline for each girl.

I got her permission to post this but this is my busty bridesmaid. She doesn't mind wearing a strapless. I will be buying the dress and bra that is needed but was wanting to know of brands or stylist that pertain to more busty women.

I would still ask your BM if she's comfortable in a strapless regardless of the fact that you're paying. That's nice of you but I would hope you still want her to be comfy too.

Amen to this! All four of my ladies are busty, I would never choose a dress for them that they could possibly be uncomfortable in. I know you have a vision of strapless, but I'd talk to her and ask her what's comfortable, then maybe adjust your vision.

I am a 38 DDD and had a strapless BM dress for a wedding. I like the idea of letting them choose. However the person who altered it sewed in some elastic stayed up all night.

I would see what she is comfortable with. I am a bit bustier and I do not like wearing strapless; I just feel uncomfortable and not secure. I would tell her that's what you like but leave the option open for her to not have to do that if she's really not comfortable.
