But what if i don't want my Fall wedding to have pumpkins, hay bales, or the color orange?!

L'amoureuse, on October 16, 2009 at 8:05 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23

Ugh!

Why does everyone insist that an October wedding has to be decorated with Halloween or decked out in orange, red, and yellow?

I just want a blue wedding.

Any places to find Fall wedding inspiration that ISN'T necessarily Fall related?

Here's a color scheme that I thought would look great for a fall wedding!

but honestly.... don't worry about what anyone says. Some people have told me red is an odd color for a spring wedding but its what I want so it really doesn't matter what anyone says

Wow. Where did you find that?

I was thinking more of a sky/cornflower blue, but your idea also includes my fiances fav color green, so this might work better.

    Any other ideas???

This is just what I think. You choose your wedding date for a special reason now that doesn't mean that just because you choose a fall month you have to do a fall theme. I choose a date base on my Fh being down school, my cuz having the kids that weekend and a few other things. Now I heard people saying things about season = certain colors/themes I was like what but I don't like those colors. I choose my theme based on always being a water baby loving being out on the ocean and the fact that my fh is from the east coast. I choose colors that I liked that I thought would look nice 2gether Blue and Purple. So if you don't want to have a fall theme or fall wedding colors don't. Don't do what everyone wants from you because you will never make everyone happy. There will always be one or two people saying oh you should do this or that and you should have this at your wedding or oh my god that's not going to look good Believe me. Just do what's right for you and your fh. Good luck with your

The colors of you wedding are your idea, and really no one can say you have to have .... color because it is in season. So what that is why they make silk flowers.. to last until you use them. So find the colors you want and the flowers and just use them.

That is perfectly acceptable, you do not have to have those colors or items in your fall wedding. I was reading an article recently that had blue coupled with brown for the fall here is the link http://www.knotforlife.com/planning/themes/autumn-fall-wedding-theme.shtml

Dont be discouraged because you are not doing the typical color scheme, it will turn out beautiful you will see. Best Wishes,

I got married at the end of Oct (12 years ago) with not a pumpkin or hay bale in sight. We did a navy theme and it worked beautifully. Looks great in the outside pics too.

Thats fine, Personally I am doing a spring accent color for a fall wedding (pink) and I am not going to care what ppl say, as long as FH and I agree then I don't want to hear negativity from anyone else. So that being said I think you should do whatever u and FH want! Good luckSmiley smile

My FW would kill me if there was a pumpkin, scarecrow or even some indian corn in our wedding. We may use one fall color as part of our color scheme, but we haven't decided yet as it depends on the venue who use.

I am getting married in October and definitely do not plan on any pumpkins, scarecrows, halloween themed items, or orange in site.... Like others have posted, pick your day and color/theme based on what you and your FH like, don't worry about what "they" say... the day is about what the 2 of you like and envision for your special day...

Color is a personal choice. I couldnt believe how many people asked me and FH if we were basing ours on the seasons. I hadnt even thought about the season since im used to Feb being boiling hot and sunny and beach time (in Aus) and it could still be snowing and cold in Kansas city. We just picked our colors based on what we like and were both happy with. Do what feels right with you. People dont necessarily remember what season others get married in they just remember the wedding itself.

It's all about what YOU want...we were supposed to get married yesterday(oct 17), and our colors were black/white/red...a'la SOPRANO style lol...now we're doing march, and a beach theme....and the colors are still black and white, but with baby/navy blue touches...

hey debi b-don't feel bad...my BIL is in jail, and someone asked where he was from, and he said kentucky...the idiot then asked, what side of houston is that on? um, it's a WHOLE OTHER state! what an idiot...as for "due in april" yea i hear you! ding-dong lol

Its your day and use whatever colors you want. every time i mention that im using blue in my wedding, people automatically start telling me about all these beach-related things i could do. i refuse to have a beach theme. i have a phobia of the ocean why would i do that! lol. but neways, once people are walking into your wedding, their thinking about a million other things anyway, not "oh these arent fall colors..." lol

LOL, I hear you, We are getting married in the fall, and my mom is insisting I incorporate fall colors, which, I really don't want to, as some of her ideas of 'fall colors' are hideous, and my colors are chocolate brown and champagne, with accents of cream. She even went as far as spending over 200 bucks at micheals on fake flowers for our pergola..and I think they're hideous. I told her not to buy anything, but she did. Now she's mad because she can't return them and I dont want to use them. I just told her Sorry mom but this is my wedding, and I told you what I wanted, and you didn't really listen. I am a clean/simple/yet elegant type gal, and what she had was far from it. You just gotta say, "I'm sorry you feel that way, ubt it's our day, and we will have what we want and what we like"

I'm doing the whole fall theme with the colours and the fake leaves..and the whole 9 yards..HOWEVER..there will not be a hay bale, pumpkin or anything "thanksgiving" or "halloween" (Canadian Thanksgiving is the weekend before) It's hard because I have to keep telling my mother "It's fall but NOT thanksgiving" She's trying to go overboard with the leaves..EVERYTHING can have leaves..frankly, I'm leafed out, but you direct the theme and the mood of your wedding with the colours and decor. I like the first colour palate that not-a-bridezilla posted...It still looks like fall without looking like you're trapped in a forest with the pilgrams! Good luck..just have fun too..it's your day, not theirs!

Just finished an october wedding (10/10) using cornflower. if you like the lighter color consider using chocolate with it and green (or green and white) for the florals. i think it will be beautiful! congrats

Our wedding was in early October and we didn't have a single pumpkin, leaf, or anything fall at all! In fact our "colors" were maroon and cream, but the only thing maroon was the M&Ms, in cream favor boxes. Our flowers were hot pink and light pink, and the ribbons on the favors were brown. It all looked great! Choose colors that you like, period.
