Buy a dress online

I think that's a really good idea to go in person to try on styles and know your sizing first before you get one online. that way you can also see what styles work on you

I think that's fine. people know that just because you're going shopping isn't even a guarantee you'll buy anything anyway.

I bought my dress from JJs House online, and I did try a few on at David's one day and at a couple at a little boutique once, but for measurement purposes, I used the size guide on the website and took my own measurements to order the right size. I still need some alterations to be done in October/November for my February wedding, but I'm very pleased with my dress.

My dress was originally listed for 1250, which was well past what I budgeted. But, I happened to get it on sale so I only paid 500 for it.
Watching for sales is huge. I wouldn’t have even looked at my dress if it hadn’t been on sale.

Definitely try some dresses in store first. Once you know what you want, it'll be easier to shop for online if you go that route. I bought my dress on a resale site called Stillwhite.


Some dresses are brand new and some are used (resale) but in great condition and decently discounted. It came just as shown in the photos.

This dress is chiffon, and it's good quality. I would guess the quality would be the same across the board. You can narrow your search on the site based on material preference, so if you're looking for satin, lace, or tulle, just play with the filters. I absolutely love my dress and it is exactly as advertised!

No problem happy shopping! Make sure you get good measurements for your order and use the size guide! Wedding dresses run a couple sizes smaller than standard US sizing.

View Quoted Comment I got mine from David’s bridal to be honest. I perused their online options and looked at what was available in my budgeted range. And with things going on clearance and change of seasons, you can sometimes find those deals.

I need to get it hemmed and get cups put in but otherwise, it was perfect.
Also, sometimes you can get a dress cheaper if it’s a sample. Just some other ideas 🙂

That is exactly what I did. I went to a bridal salon for sizing and to see what shapes I liked on myself. It's a really good idea if you've never tried them on - because not only is the sizing way different but you may find you don't like the silhouettes you thought you would (I learned quickly I didn't like a-line and actually looked great in a mermaid which I would have NEVER guessed).

Just be mindful of the potential of falling in love with something and perhaps finding it's way out of budget. I did, but fortunately I was able to find the dress I loved on a second-hand gown site (Stillwhite.com) for 1/3 of the salon cost, with the tags still on it!

It's a website! Stillwhite and Nearlynewwed but have a lot of gowns on there. Stillwhite is pretty active, I get alerts every few days with new gowns posted that fit my preferences.

Tried about a dozen dresses at DB, which gave me a good idea of what I liked and didn’t like. It turns out the style of dresses and silhouette I thought I would love, I hated on me. Lol

I ended up ordering a custom dress from Cocomelody on a sale and it turned out perfect! I absolutely love it and am so glad I did it. They offer home try on for a fee for certain dresses if you would like to try it first. They can also do customization to your exact measurements if you want and sometimes offer sales for free customizations.
