Buy a dress online

I can’t picture spending thousands or even more than 500$ on a dress. I’ve been looking online and they all seem really pretty. Did anyone go to a bridal shop to try on dresses and get their sizes and what style they like then go and buy it online because I’m spending so much on the wedding I can’t...

I went to a bridal shop and bought My wedding dress on clearance for only $200 and was originally $1700. I think you should go explore the bridal shop around you and tell them your budget. They will always have something for you. I don’t really trust buying online especially most of them are delivered from China. With this covid 19 things, it’s gonna took forever for them to shipped.

Hey there, I read through most of this thread, I just wanted to mention to you to be careful of alteration costs. Depending on what you need, they can be pricey! So if you buy from a site like preowned or Stillwhite...keep that in mind. Hemming can be expensive if the gown has lace on the edge especially. Good luck, I hope you find an amazing dress!!

I knew what I wanted in my mind and when I saw it on BHLDN I knew it was my dress! No stores in my state so I took all of my measurements, used their size chart, checked their return policy and crossed my fingers. It's a perfect fit! Just needs to be hemmed (too long). I usually hate buying clothing of any sort online because nothing ever fits right but I'm glad I did it this way. Never even went to any bridal stores, either. I'd say it can't hurt to go and try on so you know sizing but if you find something online just check their size charts and be sure you can return/exchange without hassle if need be. Good luck to you!

Oh, forgot to mention I only spent $400. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg, so $500 was my budget and I found a dress I love under budget so it's definitely possible!

I definitely recommend going in person to try styles on. i went in wanting a white lace dress with sleeves and left with a blush lace dress with spaghetti straps and an open back, the complete opposite of what i thought i’d like on me! also if you have a david’s bridal in the area they have a really good selection of cheap dresses. i tried one on that was a very close second contender and it was on sale for $350.

I bought my dress on Etsy for about 200 and I adore it. I just used a tape measure and measured myself then looked at their size chart and ordered the size closest above my measurements. I will be altering it because it is long sleeve and I decided to do a summer wedding instead of fall/winter.

This is exactly what I did. I wanted to see how certain styles looked and when I found the style dress I fell in love with I ordered it online the same day / week. I saved $1500 by doing that. We also did the same thing with our wedding bands, I just don't believe in paying full retail and we still have the same insurance and guarantees. We're saving $3000 in doing the same thing with our rings and the rings are identical to what we found in the store

Yes, I did exactly that! I went to 3 bridal shops, tried on beautiful dresses, including one in particular I had my eye on for 6+ months. I went home and cried because I knew I couldn't afford the $2,599 dress. Ended up finding the exact dress in my size online - brand new, never worn, unaltered. Made a bid for $1,200 on Poshmark, and got my dream dress for more than half off Smiley smile best thing ever. This is still more than the $500 you would want to spend, and believe me - I said the same thing, that I wouldn't spend more than $600 on a dress, and I spent double. I just knew it was the one I wanted and it was too good of a deal to pass up.

I ordered my dress on line without trying on it anywhere for $300. And I love the dress. But my dress was also quite simple in design without much blings on. So I felt the alteration if needed wasn't gonna be a hassle.

Definitely go in store and try on dresses to see which type looks best on you. I had the style dress that I was in love with but then when I went in store and tried different dresses on the one that I chose was nothing like the one I envisioned. It was so much better on my body. Once you figure out what dress style you like then you can go and get custom dresses online. I actually found someone who creates custom dresses with hundreds of reviews from real people yesterday. I'm planning on getting remarried in a church since we had a destination wedding originally and I want to get a new dress for it. If you want the info for the person I found message me, I don't think we're allowed to post it on here. She has beautiful dresses within your price range.

Hi....I purchased my dress from Last Minuet Brides. https://thelastminutebride.com/

There was a total debacle with another Bridal shop. So I went online to hunt. I was really nervous to purchase without trying on, but they made sure I got the right size according to designer.

This store and the staff are amazing. From sizing to ordering to shipping, my experience was flawless. I can't say enough about them.

There is also a website called stillwhite.com that has new and used gowns.

    Happy shopping and good luck

Hi... I bought my first dress at DB. After 6 months of being shut down due to Covid my dress wasn't fitting correctly. I wanted to exchange, but they told me NO. So I freaked and then started hunting online. I found Last Minuet Brides.

This shop is absolutely amazing. The do have a physical store in CA but do a lot online. You can contact them by email, explain what you are looking for and give them sizes, they will tell you what size you need in what designer. I order my dress and it was more stunning in person than online and it only need minor alterations. They were do easy to deal with and communicated with me the whole time. Their shipping is super fast as well. If you find a dress that you love, but they don't have it in your size they can have one made to your specifications.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck
