Buy dress for bridesmaids?

I didn't personally. I've been a bridesmaid twice and both times bought my own dress. I did consult each girl before picking one so their budget was taken into consideration. I ended up picking a color, fabric and length from Azazie so the girls could pick their own dresses and they had about a year to buy it so they could take advantage of sales & discounts & could save up if they needed to. The dresses were from $89-$169. I told them to wear whatever shoes & jewelry they wanted, and paid for their transportation, hair & makeup. My mom hosted the bridal shower & paid for it all, and I contributed a lot to my bachelorette party so I tried to be aware of the expenses for the girls and help towards it.

As a bridesmaid, I've never had my attire paid for by the couple. We didn't pay for our BP either.

I am not. I only have 2 girls in my bridal party, but I am paying for them to get their hair done so they don't have to worry about that.

We did not pay for our bridal parties attire. We allowed our bridesmaids to select their own dresses so they could purchase a dress at a cost they felt comfortable with.

I paid for my girls' dresses, but I want all my bridesmaids to match. I figured since I'm not really giving them much choice (they can choose between two very similar dresses), it would be fair for me to pay. Also, they were only $50 from Amazon.


I also got them necklaces to wear on the day of. I asked them to wear a specific color/ style of shoe, but they are getting those themselves. They are also on their own for hair and makeup.

I've always paid for my own bridesmaid dress, you can do other things like buying the jewelry or hair.makeup things like that. anyone in a wedding knows they're gonna have to spend some money

My bridesmaids are buying their own dresses.

I didn't pay for my girls' dresses. but i paid for their hair and make up and i bought all their day of accessories.

I didn’t buy it for them. I made sure to pick a reasonable place (Azazie) and let them pick their own style.
I did however pay for their hair and makeup.

I think it's nice if you can fit it in your budget but not necessary. My girls will be buying their own dresses but I will be gifting them hair and makeup.

I did pay for my girls' dresses, because that was the one detail they didn't have much control over. They paid for their hair/shoes/jewelry, and I let them decide what they wanted to do with all of those things.

I gave my 3 girls a $100 credit towards their dress since 2 of them have young kids and my other BM is my 17yr old cousin who is still a senior in high school

I paid for my bridesmaid's dresses, but they've all agreed to cover their hair and makeup. They can where whatever accessories they want, but I had a pair of pearl earrings made for each girl, and they're all different.

No and I’ve never had mine paid for as a bridesmaid either. Not expected at all!
