Buying off your own registry...before the wedding.

Nemo, on April 6, 2018 at 9:05 PM Posted in Registry 0 11
FH and I put some patio furniture on our Target registry, and realized that it was on sale this week. We have no self control and ended up going to the store and buying it ourselves 🤦🏻‍♀️ We saved $150 on it though and now we get to enjoy it all summer! 🤗

Anyone else buy things from their own registry before the shower/wedding because you couldn’t wait any longer??

Kind of. We have had a running "wedding registry" as an Amazon wish list for 2 years. Whenever we need something that is out of the usual budget for the month or a whim want we say "put it on the registery". We have been slowly buying things off of it for a while. I feel like at this rate we won't know what to register for.

Let's see... the couch, coffee maker, bedding set, sprinkler, lawn mower... We bought a new house and have wanted some things now.

I haven’t bought anything personally but my family found our registry before my birthday and Christmas so all my bday and Christmas gifts were off the registry. I have almost nothing left on one registry already and My shower isn’t even until next month let alone the wedding itself. FH doesn’t want a lot on the registry though hoping we get money (we already live together with lots of things).

That's my plan, as long as you have your registry open for two weeks most registries will give 15-20% off anything not bought.

check the terms and conditions of the registry you are using

Anything more then about 20$ we starting putting on the registry about 4 months out. On it was a hand steamer, which I will need for the wedding, but thought, hey maybe someone will buy it early and we'll luck out? Well I gave in and just bought it yesterday. Thanks for posting though! I have to remember to update it!

I did! I had an old hand me down microwave that stopped working, so I bought the microwave I had on my registry, and a few other things.

We've done that, or people have bought them for other holidays. I had been building the registry for awhile and Amazon does something annoying where anything that's bought even if it was BEFORE it was on your registry (multiples of something, etc), it shows up as bought.

I don't think this is a big deal at all, you can always just take it off.

We did that and many family members used it for our birthdays and Christmas! Macy's even gives you a percentage of what you buy back after the wedding. Also, you can get many of the other perks for fulfillment!

I own a hand steamer on its last leg...but it is seriously so awesome! One of my favorite things I own, it’s so easy that I even steam my tshirts haha. We put a new one on the registry and it’s going to be tempting to buy it before the big day

I have been doing that all along. I basically used the registries as a shopping list for things I knew I wanted but couldn't buy at the moment. My bridal shower is on May 4th so Jimi have stopped because my friends and family are looking and making decisions on if/what they would like to purchase. I'll resume after the wedding is done.
