Buying/renting chandelier for reception

Jamelyn, on April 28, 2019 at 7:07 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 13
I've had my heart set on having a couple of chandeliers hanging in my venue Pretty much since before I picked the venue. I had no idea it would be so hard to find a place to rent one. There's only about 2 places anywhere near me that have these items. One place charges a decent amount but doesn't have what I want. The other place has exactly what I want but refuses to let you install them yourself. They require outsourcing set up to another local company who would charge about $800 for the set up on top of the rental fee. Discouraged I started looking at buying a few hoping I could resell them later Or maybe use one in my dining Room. All the rental companies are very secretive about prices and items and what not so I'm having trouble Finding any measurements to go on as reference when looking to buy one. Anyone have a guess as to keywords or measurements I could use to help me narrow my search? Just don't want to accidentally buy one and it be massive very small.

If you're looking online, I would imagine the listing should tell you the diameter of the chandelier so you know how big it is. It's hard to suggest a measurement not knowing exactly what you are looking for. I feel like most of the chandeliers I've seen are between 24inches and 30 inches, but if you are going to be reusing it in your home make sure you get one that will be an appropriate size based on how big your dining room and table are.

I would love to have chandeliers, but with the other choices we have made it doesn't make sense, though buying one with the intention of using it in our dining room or bedroom is a good idea. I'm sure FH would veto that idea!

Well it's just that We want it in the décor but we don't want to pay a $1000 for something that shouldn't cost that much. I figured I could hang one in the house and eventually re sell another since I'm sure other people are doing the same as me. Looking online it's hard to tell how big something is because you can't see it in person so I was looking at the rental websites hoping that they would have measurements for their items that I could go off of.

I literally googled “cheap chandeliers” A ton of really classy looking, really affordable options came up. Have you tried that?

Sort of, the two cheapest sites ive seen are amazon and ebay. I'm afraid though to be waiting through hundreds of results clicking some that I think are cute only to find out that their tiny. That's why I was hoping someone knew the dimensions of a "regular rental wedding chandelier haha"

I guess it really depends on what you consider to sleep… I saw some for under $300, to me that’s pretty cheap you could do three of them symmetrically and that would look nice. And then you could resell them and maybe make 1/2 back?

You can buy four of these for about 200 bucks total. These are not my taste at all, but what I’m trying to tell you is I’m doing some searches and it’s really not that hard to find. These even come with pictures of people who purchased them hanging them up at events and you can see that they’re perfectly normal size

I was able to rent mine for $200, delivery, installation, and pickup included.
I think it was 36”. It was a last minute addition that I’m glad I did because I feel like it made the room! I loved it.
Did you ask your venue if they have a prefer venue for this? My venue has only one company they will allow to do draping or hanging of any kind. Maybe your venue can give you some suggestions.

I rented multiple chandeliers for my reception and my venue wouldn’t let anyone but the rental company install them. So I would make sure this is allowed before you purchase.

Did you order these chandeliers from eBay? What was the quality like when delivered? Are you happy with them?
