Byob? Shit, I'm a little pissy that our company "post-holiday" party is Byob and I don't even drink!

I know some people sew their own dresses, but to sew it from scraps of fabric upcycled from the church's reuse group... Thats impressive.

The people on that website are too nice. This sounds like a tacky wedding and I would think they were horrible friends if I was invited. No gift for sure.

What a shit show. It's so awful, I can't take it. You aren't hosting a wedding for under $1000, you're passing off the cost of hosting by making it potluck/BYOB. Why don't people understand that's not fucking hosting??

Also, I hate/love these threads. It's always funny for a laugh, but I feel like if anything, it gives the snowflakes some sort of shitty validation that their shitty hosting ideas are acceptable somewhere.

Everyone above is being so critical. Its important to understand that some people just want to celebrate with friends and family their new life together. A potluck/ BYOB wedding can be more fun then a $30k wedding depending on the people and atmosphere. Everyone should take a step down from their high horses and just acknowledge that although a wedding is completely different it can still be great.

No one's on their high horse @mlucheck, being expected as a guest to provide someone else with food and booze for their wedding is terribly tacky and rude. You don't have to spend $30k, but you better properly host the people you invite.

ETA, not saying you personally, "you" meaning anyone who plans on byob/potluck for their wedding.

@Mlucheck - I haven't hosted a BYOB party since I was in Uni. I fully host dinners at my own home with alcohol and food, why the fuck wouldn't I for my wedding? Why wouldn't any grown-arsed adult?

Everything about this sounds less like a wedding and more like just a backyard bbq party.

She also didn't factor in chairs/tables, dosen't sound like she even has a plan b for unexpected weather. I'd like to read the update after the wedding.
