BYOB Chicago Wedding Venue

Ashley, on March 8, 2017 at 3:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

HI Everyone, This is my first post!

FH and I are looking for a BYOB venue in Chicago (not suburbs) for a 175p wedding. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Can't recommend any, but have you tried the Vendors tab?

Also, by "BYOB," I hope you mean that you will be providing the alcohol at the venue, not that each individual guest will have to BYOB.

I surely hope you aren't making your guests BYOB.

Nope, we will be providing the booze. My FH works for a liquor distributor.

I have been doing a lot of my own venue research, just reaching out for suggestions on places I might have missed!

No, they supply to bars, none of which would work as a wedding venue for our guest size.

Try the Shapiro Ballroom in Chicago. Best wishes!

Sounds weird but check out venues that cater to Eeastern European/Russian weddings. many of our friends did BYO for their weddings and they are Russian. Some of the venues are cross cultural and do American cuisine as well.

I'm not in your area, however, when I let my caterer know it was something I was interested in taking care of they accommodated. I told them I had already been communicating with a bartending service and it was a route we wanted to go. They compromised with providing the bartenders but letting us supply the alcohol. You may find a caterer willing to work with you to ensure your business! I even think this will be better because it's fewer vendors I need to work with.

Like @Grace G said, there are some venues in the suburbs (which I know you said you aren't interested in) that I've been to as a guest for Polish weddings. The hosts are often allowed to bring their own spirits.

There's a lot of liability for venues associated with allowing people to bring their own alcohol. Not sure of liquor laws there, but I know it was a deal breaker for most in NY. You might end up having to compromise here. Are you wanting to have FH supply the alcohol simply because it will be less expensive? Or is it because he can get a better variety?

Our venue is working with us to buy in some liquor and beer that they don't normally carry. You may be able to find a venue that would be willing to buy directly from FH's company, and you could get the best of both worlds. They'd be compliant with their liquor license, you'd get the booze you want.

I second Chicago Party Animals although I believe the max is 125. Also check out Workshop.

Check out Mars Gallery it's near Randolph in the west loop area. They provide bartenders and you can provide your own liquor.

Thanks everyone! Great info. Right now we are narrowed down to Salvage One, Chicago Illuminating Company, or Room 1520. But I want to keep my eye out for more options!

@baletica I had never heard of Workshop, great find! Too small for our event, but I really like it.
