Cake Centerpieces saved us $$

Michelle, on March 18, 2017 at 4:40 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 44

First this isn't our cake but it will be very similar! We are doing centerpieces. They will actually have the table numbers on the cakes, too.

Since we are doing a family style dinner, when we cut our cake we are going to have the couple that's been together the longest cut the cake with us.

I just wanted to share because we actually cut a lot of costs on flowers, centerpieces, table number decor, and having to order one large cake to feed 160 people. It saved us 300$ by ordering 16 small cakes and one bride and groom cake (just to cut).

I picture kids and adults alike poking the cake throughout the evening and lots of contamination happening....

@ Glitter: Really? You think adults at a wedding can't keep their hands out of the food? Guess that's bad news for everyone planning a buffet then...

I like the idea but I too can see children (and drunk adults) putting their fingers in it.

Rayla, really. And no, people can't keep their fingers out of a buffet. Look around next time you're sharing a meal with people. Work in food service, maybe you'll have a clue about it.

I have worked in food service. Wow. Presumptuous.

Sure, some kid or drunk idiotic adult might stick their fingers in a cake, but that's no reason to tear down OP's idea.

She didn't tear down the OPs idea. She simply stated her (valid) concerns.

Rayla, you have been nothing but volatile on the threads I've seen you. For the second time interacting with you, all I have to say is I give no fucks.

That's a neat idea. We also have family style so we will cut the cake once we enter reception so it can be served with dessert.

This is so cute! I've never seen this done before and I love it! Plus no waiting for cake for your guests! That's a plus in my book lol.

Will the caterers go around and cut the cakes at the different tables? Or will the guests need to? Just asking bc in my family no one ever wants to be the one to cut the cake. We're all bad at it! I can just imagine the cakes at some tables never getting cut just because no one was brave enough to do it.

Or did I misunderstand, and are you having the couple that's been together longest at each table cut?

I'm not a fan of edible centerpieces because after you eat it it's gone, also will the guests at each table then be stuck with that flavor even if they don't like it?

Super cute idea! People know better than to poke the cake. As, for kids they likely won't reach to the center of the table to even reach it.
