Cake cutting fees

Kristen, on August 25, 2016 at 3:19 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

What is standard? I've seen quotes from caterers of $50 and one as high as $200. Wth? Why??

I don't even understand this. What the FUCK are those waiters doing if they DON"T cut your cake?

There should be no fee. You are paying a service fee for X amount of hours of service. If you want them to belly dance, then they should.

I want you to call the freaking caterer and explain why they are charging you for this. Because it's bullshit. Then report back

Now, that being said, if you are off premise and they have to add a plate and a fork rental for each person, I can understand a buck, but even that is laughable. Do they think you're not going to have dessert?

    I hate this shit.

Our reception is at a restaurant that includes dessert as part of our food package. They are charging $150 fee for bringing in a cake. It includes cutting.

I find it ridiculous. I asked my caterer about that and was fortunate. They told me there wasn't a charge as I was already paying them to be there and work my wedding.

It's included with my reception venue package. I hate that some places try to squeeze you for every dime! Every time I see someone's post about how much they're being charged for different "services", I feel grateful for my venue.

One potential caterer has no cake cutting fee but she charges an additional fee to plate. The other caterer includes plating in costs but has the $200 cake cutting fee. I want to keep looking but I feel like I'm running out of time and I feel behind on hiring a caterer.

Our venue waived it as part of an "off season" perk, thank goodness!

Our venue was 250 and they would not cut the cake or provide plates and forks even though they would provide them for the food. So we ended up with their cake for 190

Oddly... Im going through this same issue. Dessert comes as a part of our package, but they are taking the dessert out instead of charging us a "cake cutting fee".

Before booking, they told us that we were more than welcome to have a "family member" to cut the cake. So we had our DOC put it in under her "list of things to do"....

Thennn... My venue came back and said "something about some legal bs".

I'm pissed about it, because my baker has their own insurance, so why am I paying the venue almost $350 to cut a cake that I didn't buy from them (not to mention that the venue didn't even have a list of "preferred vendors" to choose between)

    Complete BS!
