Cake Cutting Songs

I'm trying to get the Fh to go along with "Eat It" by Weird Al but there is "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor or "Sugar Sugar"

Hahaha! My sister(MOH) keeps telling me to do "Eat It by Weird Al. It is definitely an option, as I loved Michael Jackson growing up, and that spoof was priceless.

I love something upbeat.

When the party is jamming at the reception, and everything is put on pause for the cake cutting, a slow song kind of mellows out the party.

I love "So Much Love" by The Rocket Summer.

I have to agree with you there, Katherine. I definitely think I want something upbeat and fun. My reception is going to have a very "fun and let loose" feel due to the fact that my ceremony is a traditional Catholic one. Thanks for the song suggestion. I'll check it out!!

Is it supposed to be fast? We were thinking about doing Sweetest Love by Robin Thicke.

It doesn't necessarily have to be fast, though I am partial to the upbeat songs cause my FH and I intend to get messy with the cake haha! What do you all think about Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benetar?

I like the Pat Benetar idea! ESPECIALLY if you're gonna be smashing that poor, helpless, innocent, DELICIOUS cake in wach others mouths/faces..lol

"Sugar Sugar" is a great one as is "How Sweet It Is" but if you want a unique version of "How Sweet It Is" try the Gerry Garcia version. I also like "Ice Cream" by Sarah McLachlan, "When I'm Sixty Four" by the Beatles, "(Take Me) The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson just to name a few. Good Luck!

I once did an at-home wedding where the music was playing randomly on iPod. As the couple went to cut the cake, completely by coincidence the song that started playing was "Baby Got Back." Might have been embarrassing for some couples, but my couple thought it was great and totally got into it. Made for a very memorable moment.
