Cake in the face? Really?

June, on December 10, 2010 at 11:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 70

Is it just me or is smashing cake in each other's face kind of mean? Am I being overly sensitive about this or does it bother anyone else? I don't see the humor in it, and I can make a joke about most anything . . . Anyone have an opinion on it?

My concern with it is not how mean it is but about getting cake all over my face and up my nose. Do you really want to end up rubbing all your make-up off while trying to get the cake off when the photographer will still be taking pictures afterward?

Yeah that was my concern too.... I am not going to pay money for someone to do my make-up, and then have it ruined by cake...

I already told FH that cake to the face was not ok with me.

I had that done to my on my 15th b-day...... not fun

My Aunt told me it is bad luck to smash the cake in each others faces. All her friends who did got divorced and the ones that did not smash are still together.

I heard that its statistics says that if you do that your more likely to get divorced. My FH has been warned!

Lol i'm sorry but i think its funny. FH doesnt though. He told me no cake in the face when I asked him about it but I told him i would only push a small piece in his mouth so he okay-d to that. I wouldnt mind him shoving a small piece in my mouth, as long as my makeup doesnt get ruined we are good to go. But i do think the cake in the face pictures are hilarious though.

I wouldn't mind a little dab of frosting on the tip of my nose, but even then it just seems really...silly (to put it nicely). I'm very much against smashing cake in eachother's faces, it ruins hair, make-up the dress and my mood. FH is not one to do that sort of thing anyway, but he knows it will not fly with me lol

I don't think it's acceptable! So therefore we will not be smashing cake in eachother's faces....escpecially after I have paid someone to do my makeup.

Let's just say that NotFroofy and I were in full agreement about no cake-smashing!

I think it is tacky.....Why would you want to do that or have that done to you on the biggest picture day of your life? This is suppose to be a formal event and you are setting the tone...is this the tone you want to set? Food fight. McDonald's

I don't like it. It is a tradition that should be phased out!

I think it's entertaining for the ones that do do it. But DH and I had an agreement that neither of us wanted that and that we wouldn't do it. I told him I would kill him if he ruined my makeup ;-) I didn't even want to touch the cake with my fingers and get them all sticky so we fed each other with forks :-)

Whew! Thanks, because I had a bad experience the first time around - begged him not to, he did, we're divorced. This time I don't see it being a problem but I was trying to figure out if I was being silly. I do think the cake on the nose is cute but could even do without that if I had my way. :-)

Y'all are a wonderful help, I read so much more than I post but I have learned a LOT about what I want and don't want. The best thing I've learned is that breaking the rules IS the rule!

FH has been told that if any cake gets in my face, nothing of his will be for a very long while... He thought it was uncool anyway.

We didn't smash cake at ours. Part of that was because the frosting was purple and would have stained!

FH was told me he was tempted to do it, at which point I informed him we would not be feeding each other cake. I'm doing my makeup, I'm not going to waste part of my reception in the bathroom trying to fix it!

@Brittainy...I love the color purple but not as face makeup or stains on clothing...It just doesn't seem to be the way to do things at a wedding.

@ Mom N Exactly! I told him if he smashed it that there would have been some serious payback! Lucky for me he agreed we shouldn't smash...

Hehe, I told my fiance that if he smashes cake in my face I'm going on our honey moon without him. We've agreed to NO cake fight as well.

I think it's cute, and fun, but that's just me. I'm not sure what I think about it yet. I know I really wouldn't care for it in my face, but I also don't like cake. I'm thinking a cheesecake cake, if it can be made without dairy (FH is lactose intolerant AND allergic to chocolate, poor guy). Not sure how well cheesecake smashes. :p

I hate cake smashing. I find it to be very stupid.
