I just hate the cake smash in general. You spent how much money on your dress, your hair, your makeup, his suit or tux and you want to smear frosting all over it?! Fuck. That.

Im not going to lie, at first ai wanted to do this but we went with the money dance insead. It can still be considered tacky i guess cuz it's technically asking for money, but Im hispanic and it's a very common tradition

I saw pictures from a family friend's wedding on Facebook where they did this. They had jars for the bride/groom and a jar for the father of the bride... which of course, got the most money. This is so gross to me on every level! I don't understand why people do things like this.

    That cake is gorgeous though!

If FH smashes cake in my face there will be serious trouble. With what I am paying for my MUA, he best not be messing it up.

ETA: Vilma, if the money dance is part of your heritage / culture then I don't think it is considered tacky.

I've heard of this... and hate it. I've warned FH that there will be NONE of this. I explained the history behind the tradition of feeding each other the cake (first act of serving each other of husband and wife), and told him that smashing cake in my face, IMO would be incredibly disrespectful.

    That cake is legit gorgeous.

I considered this, but in a different context: people placed bets on who would smash the cake. It would be funny, because everyone would bet on me, but I think cake smashing is so tacky.

Now I know asking for $$ is tacky too so none of that is going on with me!

I told my fiancé he better not smash cake in my face! Plus ours is ice cream cake so it would be extra messy. I warned him if he deliberately got ice cream all over my face and it got on my dress he would feel my wrath lol

This is worse than the dollar dance or cash bar.
