Cake Song - Necessary?

Nope. It might make things a little less awkward that complete silence though.

I never been at a wedding that has music at the cake cutting...it goes fast.

View Quoted Comment I think it depends. Sometimes it takes a bit to get attention commanded. And ya do the thing, and the song continues to play while you transition to the next thing.

Alternatively, we will probably just use the end of our entrance song for our cake cutting song.

Our coordinator asked, but we didn't have anything in mind so we left it to the discretion of our DJ. It went so fast that I don't even remember if there was music playing at the time!

We're having one. Music is super important to us, so we had to fit all of our favorites in. It'll also be a good attention grabber, and people won't have to be in a silent room watching us cut and eat cake while the photographer takes her photos.

I don't think it's necessary, we're doing one just to help get everyone's attention along with announcing it

I don't know that we'll have a dedicated song, but I also don't really just want silence. FH is fairly big into jazz, so I'm planning to have him pick a bunch of songs he likes as kind of background-y music for things like cocktail hour and dinner, and I think something like that might go great for cake cutting too.

We might have background instrumental going during cake cutting and toasts like things but I don't think it's necessary. Like a room full of people is ever going to be entirely silent enough to be awkward anyways.

I honestly don't remember hearing music for any of our friends' cake cuttings. I don't think silence is a bad thing it's not like it takes that long. It's not like there's music going during speeches. I don't think there needs to be a dedicated song for every little thing. Turning the music off and the DJ announcing it's cake cutting time is more important to me because I hatehatehate almost missing or completely missing the cake cutting as a guest because nobody announced it!
