Cake Storing

CourtneyBrittain, on July 8, 2019 at 1:58 PM Posted in Planning 1 9
Hey all! We have found our cake (YAY!!!) but now we have the dilemma of storing it. Our venue doesn't have a refrigerator, and all the wedding helpers will be at the venue by 1:00 and it doesn't start until 5:30. Cake cutting is scheduled for close to 7:30, any ideas how to be sure the cake is alright? It's nothing super intricate, but I also know typically it stays in a refrigerator. Any ideas how to keep it cool, at least before the reception?

Is your venue indoors with A/C? It should be okay inside for that time. I would also suggest fondant (you don't eat it) but it will help keep the cake from melting or drying out.

Can you ask your baker to deliver cake later?

I've never seen a cake refrigerated before cutting, I'd think out of direct sun or heat in its box would be fine.

Make sure they have the A/C cranked. And since you are transporting it yourself make sure the car is as cool as possible and don't leave it in there for even a minute without A/C, it will melt.

Our cake is being delivered at 4pm and won't be cut until closer to 9:30pm. Our bakery wasn't concerned with leaving it out, just that it stayed cool in the venue.

We definitely will have AC going on high, both in the car and the reception area.

    Thank you!!

If your venue has a small room such as a spare office or closet, I would store it in there and crank the AC.

My cake got delivered at 5p and I think we didn't do cake cutting til a few hours after and it was cream. We were told not to deliver before 5 because it could melt. But like other Pp said if there's a/c it could help it not melt
