Cake Tasting! Which Flavors?

We're doing a tasting in two weeks, and leaning towards a mocha cake w/ fudge filling and vanilla buttercream. There was another bakery I was very interested in because they had unique flavors (fresh nectarine or plum buttercream, white pepper cake, spicy chocolate cake, etc) but fiancé said they were too wild.

We just had our tasting this past Saturday. All of our flavors were AMAZING, but we ended up splitting - 1/2 is chocolate cake with canolli filling and the other half is vanilla cake with strawberry mousse filling.

So...3 tier-cake = 3 options? The list looks YUM. Of course the best way to choose is to taste them but my virtual vote is #3, #4 and then something wild (#6). So. Many. Choices. I'm excited for you.

I'm doing a lemon pound cake..it'll be refreshing for my summer wedding

We just went to our tasting on Friday! It was so fun and was over SO fast! We were in and out in less than an hour!

We had picked three three flavors to try and then the bakery surprised us with 3 more:
the ones we picked to try were:
pumpkin w dulce de leche filling
chocolate with mocha
red velvet with cream cheese

they chose:
- poppyseed with strawberry
- banana with Bavarian creme
- zucchini with fruit filling.

they were all AMAZING. We get a 3 tier cake with our package so we chose the poppyseed for the biggest tier, then chocolate with mocha, and the pumpkin with dulce de leche for the top tier!

Our design will be simple buttercream with ribbon at each tier and our cake topper!
I didn’t even think we would have a cake but when we found a venue that included it I got SO excited. It’s going to be amazing!

That is sooo exciting Malwen! Such unique flavor options and how rad that in a world where expenses keep mounting, there's a lovely free cake waiting for you at the top. Wow. There is something a little emotional about seeing the cake you designed and cutting the cake together. Maybe cuz it's tradition? But it's sweet. I never cared until we did it.

We choose a Vanilla Cake with a white chocolate frosting. The vanilla cake has a little bit of a lemon zest to it. I didn't think I would care for white chocolate icing, but it tasted very yummy.

Well now I want cake.

Your choices all look so yummy and I am so jealous!!! It is looking more and more like we are going to do an all-inclusive, plus we have tons of dietary restrictions to consider, so I probably won't be able to do a cake tasting..... BUT am happy for you that you get to!

We have tried 14 flavors but haven't found a baker we both like so we will be trying more. Most of the time we find a flavor one of us likes but not the other. I find most of the cakes to be dry or bland. The one place that wasn't he said he didn't like them because they all tasted like they had a lot of coffee in them. So we will keep looking.

View Quoted Comment You might be surprised! Our cake is included in our catering option (the only caterer our venue allows and it is all inclusive) and the bakery they utilize had many options to choose from and a lot for dietary issues as well...
For example, my FHs sister is allergic to eggs and anything with eggs in it she cannot eat...so the baker is making her a mini vegan carrot cake, as vegan cooking doesn't use egg, but she also had a vegan chocolate option!
With so many allergies many bakers have learned to work with them

FMIL may go do the cake tasting for us since she lives an hour away from the venue while we live states away lol. We already chose the flavors but she doesn't know that and really wanted to taste them. We figure we'll have her taste the ones we picked and a couple more and let us know if one we picked is pretty weird lol. Right now we have the top layer lemon cake with lemon cream, middle is white cake with strawberry mouse and bottom is chocolate with fudge. Each one of us picked a layer lol

Yes. 3 tier cake gives us 3 options there. But we are also doing at least one sheet cake possibly two. So we get 1 to 2 more options there. Upping the tier size to have 4 was more expensive so we just decided to do extra sheet cake to cover the remaining servings. I agree with there being way to many choices. and it doesn't help when I like pretty much everything they have.

We just went today! Chose white cake with chocolate and chose like allnour food too
