Cake to-go boxes?

Sasha B., on May 7, 2014 at 5:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28

I've seen this idea a few times and think it would be kinda neat to do. Would you as a guest take home cake from wedding if it were an option? Or do you think it would be a waste of money?

You have to make sure to have enough extra cake for everyone but otherwise go for it.

I'd love cake to go. When I am drinking at a wedding I normally wont do sweets. It would go perfectly with my coffee the next morning Smiley smile Great idea!

I would love to take cake to go! I'm going to make sure we have at least 5 pieces to take with us after our wedding. I'm sure we'll need to refuel at some point!

    Such a cute idea!

I've already made my mom the duty of running through our buffet for food and cake for our first night... and breakfast the next morning! Hey, it's the start of my honeymoon, so I figured I'm allowed some cake for breakfast Smiley smile

Our wedding cake are our favors. The meal at the reception includes dessert so we figured our guests wouldn't want cake on top of what's already offered. We gave our personalized cake boxes to our baker and she's going to have them already pre-packaged. We are having a small 3-tiered cake for show and cake cutting purposes.

I love this idea. We're doing cupcakes and I just found some cute boxes on Oriental Trading for dirt cheap. I figure everyone gets a cupcake, they have the choice of eating it at the reception, or bringing it with them.

Im convinced! However i have no idea where to find boxes. I tried looking on etsy but couldnt find any. Any suggestions? And the ladies who are doing this, where are you keeping the boxes at the reception?

I'm actually doing leftover cake in boxes as our favor. We are having a four layer cake for a small wedding (long story). I'm purchasing my boxes at a local bakery supply store. However you can find boxes on eBay and Oriental Trading.

If you have a grocery/restaurant supply store in your area you can find take-out boxes incredibly cheap. They might not be as decorative as the one posted above but they would certainly do the trick. I considered this as well but we are doing pie and I don't know how well it would hold up.

I'm definitely getting some boxes. I don't want the cake to go to waste.

I would take one as long as I liked the cake! Check with your venue/caterer, too. My venue will wrap up any leftover pieces of cake for guests to take home, so I don't need to purchase any boxes or anything.

My venue recommended this and they said it's always a big hit with guests. They're providing little bags, so see if your caterer does the same. Otherwise, I think you can buy boxes on Oriental Trading.

I had to place our final cake order before our RSVP deadline. I figured out later that we were going to have cake coming out the wazoo! So I found a restaurant supply website and got some nice brown craft paper type to go boxes and tried to send everyone home with cake!

A lot of people were traveling and couldn't take it, but it helped saved some from going to waste!

Oh, and hell yes I would take cake home from a wedding I attend!
