How much did everyone's cake cost?! I am not looking for a big cake something small for the cutting with sheet cake or cupcakes for guest.

Well, I will admit that I was flabbergasted by my final cake fee until I switched to chocolate and vanilla tiers. Watch out for initial price quotes! Everything I was looking at according to my bakers standard price sheets was for "basic" cake, ie chocolate and vanilla. I budgeted for $900 for my cake and thought I was getting a deal for 5 layers because it had super intricate decoration.

Once I asked for coconut and raspberry lemon flavors, I was introduced to a hugely inflated cake price. I went from $2.50 a slice to $4 plus decoration of a flat fee. I was 100% not told that price differential per slice until I questioned the final quota. I was only looking out for decoration inflation. After switching to "basic" I went from $1250 to $950 for a 5 tier cake from my pinterest dreams including tax and delivery. Those are the favorite flavors anyway. But keep in mind that flavors can greatly increase your costs.

We're spending about $1200 for cakes like this for 140 plus a grooms cake for 30 people. And then another $250 on macarons, mini tarts and mini pies

Mine was included with my venue for a 3 tier buttercream - we did two fillings - strawberry for the bottom two and then cannoli on the top layer. But we paid an extra $200 to do a fondant design because there is no way what we wanted could have been done with just buttercream.

We'll be paying $20 for a cutting cake for us, and then doing other desserts instead of cake for the guests.

I am a baker and I do a lot of weddings - I think the most affordable if you are not going to go through a grocery store is to do a small two tier cake and either cupcakes or sheet cakes that the staff can cut and present to your guests. You can keep the top of the two tier if you are going to do the anniversary thing and cut the bottom of the tier. Also if you have cupcakes you can choose a few different flavors & NO cutting fee!! Smiley smile Good luck!

We spent about $300 on 1 small round cake and a mix of mini and full size cupcakes (enough for 160 guests), plus 50$ to rent the tiered stands.

$172 for 20 people, 2 tier plus delivery. We're using Costco sheet cake for the rest of the wedding ($19 for a half sheet and it's delicious!)
